That is bad luck, fella. Have you tried retracing your steps?

Depending on the bike, barrel and key sets should be pretty easy to come by if you don't find it.

Suzuki GN125. Can't believe they came out. Retraced my steps in the car, but went for at least a good 20 mile ride so pretty much like finding a needle in a haystack.

My friend's bike will run without the key in, it pulls out in the on position. I guess he should just start it and keep the key in his pocket.

Ignition barrel must have been pretty knackered so having to replace it will probably be a good thing.

Do I replace it or get a new key made? I need to open up the fuel tank, too.

My cbr has one key that does the same due to the key being worn rather than the barrel.

I always clip my keys onto my brake lines, mostly because when we were younger, at traffic lights if you weren't 'kill-switch' side of your mates bike...we'd have a tug at the key (just for the laughs)
...anyway, since then I've connected the key to the bike (just in case). Cool

Not that this information helps you in the slightest...!

New ignition on a GN125 is easy, you can get to it without removing any other parts.

Just unscrew the circle plastic bit around the top of the barrel and the whole thing will drop out the bottom. Then just rip the wires off at the solder point where they're attached to the barrel.

The biggest ballache is the soldering. Make sure you take a note of what colour wires go where.

Looks like you're only options are to buy this...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Key-Lock-Set-Ignition-Switch-For-SUZUKI-GN125-/130375319892 (takes up to 10days to arrive though)

or ask the guy you bought it off if he can look for the spare key.

Unlucky though mate, it's just one of those annoying shitty things that happens in life.

It says in your edit the house key also opens the petrol tank? which is an entirely different locking mechanism surely? :S

Doesn't sound very safe mate and i wouldn't be publicly posting that either.
Replace it as soon as u can if i was you and i wouldn't even ride it, if a thief notices u started the bike with a window key, they'll follow u home and take your bike.

Use the window key. Loads of spares available, at least!

Just don't go starting your bike around any would-be thieves! Rolling Eyes

But what if they keep a spare key, and knowing your address from posting the locks, come and steal your bike. WHAT IF?!?!!

Had this happen on a CB250. It's because the barrel is worn, but you've probably worked that out already.

Because they're from China lol and deliver worldwide and doubt they have people all over the world ready to steal GN 125's and a GN 125 probably cost less than a flight ticket from China to the UK, if they were gonna do that they'd probably do it for later more expensive bikes Smile

And if you still find it a problem, order it to a different address to where you store your bike? Maybe a friends house or family members house?

Just use a screwdriver to start it, but be carefull no one sees what type it is or they could sneak in and nick it. When you get a new lockset use a piece of Gaffa tape over the key, problem solved!
