PASSED MOD2 (today)

Yep, I passed.
I thought I'd F'ed up again within the first 5 mins of it but I passed.

But there is a story to this (isn't there always)
I passed with 2 minors, they were for actually riding too SLOWLY. The examiner thought that I needed to make more progress and if overtaking a car or lorry, get it done, quickly. It is a big bike, use the power to overtake, don’t worry about speeding until your passed the vehicle you’re overtaking.
With this in mind and holding my brand new cert, I head off from the test station to the shop with their bike.
On the way there I come up behind a lorry doing 45 on a 60. So I think to myself, overtake, get it done quickly. So I look ahead and there's nothing coming so I give it a little welly and I nip passed doing roughly 70, making sure I am getting it done, quickly. Then what do I find in front of me, a fucking mobile speed camera (those tossers in a van).

So I ask you what are we supposed to do.
The government examiner has told me off for not going quick enough but when we do go quick enough the police stop us and tell us off as well as fine us and increase our insurance premiums

The examiner was wrong in telling you that you should speed in order to pass a vehicle quickly. Speeding is illegal, overtaking or otherwise.




Just wait and see if you get anything through the post, just thank yourself that front number plates aren't a requirement on motorcycles, and just hope they didn't have enough time to write down your rear number plate as you were going past.

Tip from DSA Dischord - You don't have a number plate on the front of a bike and if you think you've sped passed a camera van put your hand over your plate until your out of view

Well done mate. Now the fun begins - guess what?..... the constant worry of the speed camera is your new bug now the test is over! The answer - get out of town and know the road. If you are in a new area - Sat nav with alerts is your friend! Anyway for the moment just enjoy your new freedom, without L plates!!

Congrats on the pass mate.
As regards speeding while over taking on single carriage NSL Rd.
I had a copper following me once (arranged) I got up to 90(speedo)whilst overtaking a car,as soon as I was passed I slowed down to just above NSL.When we stopped for a cuppa,the Copper said I did the right thing,got passed as quickly as possible then slowed down to within an Acceptable speed.
About time all these agancies got their heads together and gave us a single standard that is acceptable.
