Firstly I have read the rules and I am not even sure this is the correct place for this subject.... so I could be starting off terribly..

Thanks everyone, I have no pictures of the bandit as yet (I am on my work computer) I am a nodder!! I firmly believe in it haha, when I was on my 125cc marauder it made me feel good about being on a bike, so I try and nod to every bike, so long as I see them in time

Just don't take offence when other users verbally abuse what you say.

This is not classed as one of the most friendly forums so I would advise to carefully monitor peoples comments (posts) before dipping your toe in & adding your two-penneth-worth.

Also don't become despondent when other users trash your comments, because there are decent people on here as well as muppets.
& remember to look at a lot of the new user threads because some commonly used questions cause untold abuse.

A subframe is usually a separate section of the frame of the bike, bolted on to the main frame, and the usual way to identify it is by looking for "the bit with the seat and rear lights on". Thats the subframe.

On your bandit, the frame is all one thing welded together, it doesn't really have a separate subframe. This can be a problem if you have a crash, because if the subframe on a normal bike gets damaged, you can remove it and fit a new one, but on your bike, if it gets damaged, the whole frame may need to be replaced.

In the following pic, the subframe is the bit, painted red, thats bolted to the main (black) frame. Not the plastic fairing bit with the "R" on, ignore that. All the weight of the seat and lights unit, the numberplate hanger, your arse, and the arse of any pillion you may be carrying, are supported by it.

Dare I add that a subframe is always a bolt on part, and refers to any framework that bolts on to the main frame. Motorcyclists tend to use the term generically to refer to the rear part of the frame regardless of whether it can be removed.
You either have a traditional frame which incorporates something to bolt seat, etc to or a more modern type which is little more than a carcass to hang bits off the engine (event to the extent of using the engine body as the forward part of the 'framework')
