PostPosted: 19:56 - 29 May 2013    Post subject: CB1000R vs Z1000 vs Stripple R Reply with quote

So, I'm potentially going to have some money coming my way towards the end of the year, and as I have been without a bike for a good year I have decided to go for something I really want rather than something I'm stuck with.

I will go and test ride these bikes of course, but it would be good to have opinions. I'm looking for something very fun but with a comfortable riding position that will allow me to go on short and long rides. ZX6R was really uncomfortable due to my short stature.

Here is what has caught my eye at the moment.

The sexy as fuck CB1000R
https://images.motorcycle-usa.com/PhotoGallerys/CB1000R_35.jpg

The older model Z1000 (new ones don't do it for me)
https://images.cmsnl.com/img/products/kawasaki-z1000-slip-on-sc_big1079SC-01_d106.jpg

Or the Stripple R.... (has to be round headlights!)

Opinions?

I like the CB1000 and the Triple R quite a lot.
Really hard to choose between them, probably might just edge the CB for the cash.

for b roads, commuting or twisty a roads the street triple, especially if you like to give an engine a good thrashing

will keep pace with larger stuff on bigger roads too, just needs more input

Street triple is only slightly down on power compared to the CB1000R and the Z1000. The Z1000 is getting on a bit now, and was never rated that highly.

However, the Street has a major advantage over both of the 1000s and that is weight. It's much lighter than either of them.

Street Triple R. It's the only choice.

I can't decide. For me personally I absolutely adore the stylings of the Cb1000R, it's just stunning. The zed looks quite similar but as said it's getting on a bit. The new zeds just don't have that sharp look to them.

The real outsider is the Stripple... but everyone I know who's owned one has said it's the dogs.

I have time.. Thanks for you opinions. Now to find somewhere to test ride the beast.

FZ1 Abarth? hmmm looks lovely. How much do those cost then? Isn't abarth a Fiat tuning shop?

I still prefer the look of the CB mind, sharper looking.

What about:

Awesome bikes. What with Husky now going bust, you can pretty much name your price when buying.

I would go for the Honda.... i really like them in the tricolour paint finish with gold rims!

The street triple is probably a better bike but everybody's got one.

I test rode the speed triple and found it wasn't up to the CB1000r which I eventually bought. The Cb handles and stops very well, its a little juicy if that's a problem for you. It has plenty of low down grunt which is fun. I have a 2010 in black that I will be selling, the only reason its going is I want another bike with a fairing so im test riding a fazer 1000 and a kwak Z1000sx next week. If you want an immaculate black one with very low miles and some quality extras, pm me! Wink

Maybe I'm against the flow but I bought a Striple R new last year and thought it was the most over hyped bike ever. I quickly got bored with it. The suspension was crap, not possible to adjust to suit me, ( check the str forum out and see how many suspension threads there are). The engine promised much at low revs then quickly ran out of steam, the seat is like a plank and the indicators kept snapping off of their own accord.
I've ridden both the others and the choice for me would be the Honda, with the Kwak a possibility at the right money. The STR would be bottom of the list.

Gotta agree, Ducati's are very good bikes. I would love an 848 streetfighter.

The CB1000 is very 'meh' to ride, which is very Honda like.

The Z feels a bit lardy now.

The Street is a good bike, but again, it doesnt live up to the hype.

IMO.
