Right I'm starting a new thread as my last one was getting a bit complicated.

The problem I'm having is that I'm getting no spark from my brand new spark plug when I hit the starter button, but when I put a screwdriver in and jiggle it about (A lot!!!) I eventually get a spark.

I've tested the primary and secondary parts on my coil and HT lead for resistance and there both within specified range but when I've tested the spark plug cap itself I'm getting 9500 ohms of resistance. My spark plug cap is of a non resistor type as my spark plug contains the resistor (DR8EA) so I'm trying to find out whether that value (9500 ohms) is normal or whether it's fried and needs to be replaced.

If anyone can help me with this I'd really appreciate it and if you haven't read my previous posts please don't start with switches, relays, fuses or wires etc as they all been checked) Very Happy

Cheers

does it spark with the old plug? have you tried another plug? If it does you have a dud plug.

Is the coil connected properly? HT lead and cap seated correctly? Don't say you've checked. Check again. And again.

Is the igniter connected properly? Just in case.

Have you disturbed any of the wiring whilst farting around and disconnected something?

Try shoving the end of the HT lead straight onto the plug without the HT cap. If it sparks you have a duff cap.

Tried old plug and new plug, no spark off either. Tried sticking it in the HT lead directly, no good though.

Also everythings connected up and the resistance checks out okay so at a complete loss Sad

Well either it is a wiring problem (something is loose/snapped/unplugged), the ignition fuse has popped, or the coil is duff readings nonwithstanding.

It is unlikely you have a duff igniter box. Check the fuses first, then go through the wiring, then think about a coil.
