Thank you Thumbs Up

I can do a simple one for you but it won't go into engine number detail - just write off check, colour change and finance.

Ahh thanks for the offer but that would be a bit of a waste!

I know the history of the bike, ie not written off, no finance but me and the guy I'm buying it off are unsure if it's had an engine change or not. Is there any other way of checking other than a HPI do you know or is that the best way?

Section P5, inside left page of the V5 (logbook) will tell you the engine number, see if it matches what's stamped on the engine block?

Matches up fine, but that doesn't mean to say it's not had an engine swap and an owner has notified the DVLA of the new engine number :/

I'd be very surprised if that had happened - if it's a like for like swap who would bother telling them?

Why's all this come about?

I'm buying a TL1000, and they're known to eat gearbox's. It's cheap, its off a friend and the bikes been stood for ages so is a project for me.

He thinks at some point in the past it's had a new motor as the old one may have developed a fault with 3rd gear.

I wanted to see if it had an engine change as then I know that for now the fault has been cured.
