My missus grinds her teeth too.

Go to the dentist, as they can make you up a plate - a bit like a gum shield, but better fitting.

It's actually really common. I didnt' even realise I must do it sometimes in my sleep until I went to the doctors (refered by the dentist) with a real aching pain in my jaw, a bit like toothache.

Whats the point of people asking anything on here if all they're gonna get is people trying to be funny and/or taking the piss?

I've noticed that doctors, dentists and the like generally don't take the piss whereas on here it happens very often. If I had a medical concern, and didn't want to suffer the odd piss-take, I'd probably visit a professional rather than ask a group of bikers.

Gum shield on the NHS is Band 3 (300 quid or so).

If you get free/discounted treatment it's definitely worth it.

If you don't then ask yourself if you want to have no teeth in 10 years' time and how that would affect your professional/personal life.

I have been grinding my teeth in my sleep for over 20 years. Dentist had a gum shield made for me, I had ground through it within 3 weeks, so he had another made & I had gold fillings put in to stop me breaking all my back teeth. I managed to destroy that gum shield within weeks Rolling Eyes Now I still have the teeth with the gold fillings, but I am now damaging my front teeth and my jaw locks every now & again.
I really don't see what good Bonjela will do to stop teeth grinding, go & see a dentist before it becomes a habit that can't be broken.

Someone's already asked this, but why are you using Bonjela? It's not meant to stop teeth grinding - what made you think it was?

Go to the doctor.

Sounds to me like what my missus had a while back, it's called bruxism, get a shield on Amazon for about thirty quid, worked for the other half.

As a semi temporary solution, magnesium citrate which is a supplemental that you can buy at places like holland and barrett. It helps relax the muscles ever so slightly.

Helps me deal with gurning.

wtf why Confused Confused Confused

It may be a little bulky but I was quite serious when I suggested using a gum shield.

And also I think a few of us would genuinely like to know the rationale behind the use of bonjela Confused !!

No idea

Dentists regularly asks me of I grind my teeth... I don't.. I think I clench my jaw a lot though. I also chew the inside of my mouth.. been trying to stop for years! Its so scared.

You got to retrain your brain..

Bonjella, load of rubbish, you is makes your moth water and then you swallow it..

Good luck.

Yes, but that would only offer up an audience of one and get treatment, whereas this option guarantees an audience of many and draws it out.
