Picked up an iPhone at the side of the A87 this evening whilst out on my push bike, get in touch if you've lost one (and you can tell me about the bike on the wallpaper).

I assume it has a password then? Daft question probably but if not, look for a 'home' number and ring it?

Even if its passworded and its an iPhone 4 (not sure if this works with a 5) but hold down the home (?) button until voice control appears. Then tell it to call home and it will.

Funny this should get posted, I made a day trip to see the loch Ness monster this morning, I only traveled from Cornwalll, just as the monster appeared, I quickly scrambled to find my iPhone to take a photo of this illusive beast, and low and behold, it was missing Sad was just for a quick visit as I had to be in work by 2, would you mind posting it to me in Cornwall Wink much appreciated.

Could try taking their sim card out and putting it in your phone... although iirc some iphones use teeny tiny micro sims which don't realy fit in many other phones so this might not be doable...

You ought to do what I do. On locked phones, you can still have full functionality of the camera. If it's a 4S or a 5, you can pretty much hit the shutter button rapidfire and fill up the album within 2 minutes; happily photographic your penis with intricate detail!

If the owner is smart, they'll probably have iphone finder enabled which would mean that the phone will be emitting a tone with a message. Keep your eye out since it's been used many a time to reunite iphone to owner.

But the penis thing is a must! My friends all prempt this by having phones that are already saturated with pics.

Does the iPhone finder work when the phone is in airplane mode?

I don't think it works in airplane mode unfortunately. Best thing to do is take a photo of your name and phone number and hope they check their iCloud at some point.

Unfortunately if its in airplane mode it wont upload the picture to Icloud.

I would call apple and give them the s/n and hopefully they will contact the owner for you.

Done it in the past when I had someone elses luggage delivered from a hotel rang emirates and they contacted the owner for me.

If find my iPhone doesn't work in airplane mode then I doubt iCloud syncing will work either.

No chance of guessing the lock code? Guess it's only 4 digits, try tilting the phone so light is bouncing of the screen and see if there are any finger marks that line up with number pad

Last time I went to Loch Ness, it must have been about seven, eight years ago. Me and the little lady was out on this boat, you see, all alone at night, when all of the sudden this huge creature, this giant crustacean from the Paleolithic Era, comes out of the water. It stood above us looking down with these big red eyes and I yelled, I said, "What do you want from us, monster?" And the monster bent down, and said, "I need about tree-fitty."

I said, "I ain't givin' you no tree-fitty, you goddamn Loch Ness Monster! Get your own goddamn money!" She gave him a dollar thinking it would go away. Well, of course he's not gonna go away, she gave him a dollar, he's gonna assume you got more!

That was the first time I met the Loch Ness Monster

I suspect the owner has reported it missing and the fact it's in aeroplane mode is because it's been blocked.

My new massive-phone uses a micro sim for some reason.
Had to stick the sim (which I'd then cut down to 'micro' size) back in the old phone and it worked fine held in the right place without an extra adaptor (which I did get with the micro-sim cutter) - including being dropped on the floor etc!

Hah iPhone 5 uses a Nano Sim......great fun when it doesn't activate and you ring your supplier and they turn around and say
"Can you read the long number on the sim card for me?"
"Err no, I can't actually, the numbers 400 microns in size, the sim card is no bigger than my nail on my little finger"
