well I had enough of the mz's fuel economy. being out of work causes no end of problems! so I decided I needed something good on juice and damn reliable. made a bit of a profit on selling the mz so went and bought something i knew would be economical and reliable plus i used to own one and loved it!!

Its kinda funny really. 15 years ago, maybe even 10 people would be ripping the piss out of you for purchasing a Honda Super Cub, but nowadays they've got a certain cachet. I guess it's kinda like a Fiat 500 or a Renault 4. They used to be bargain basement transport for people who couldn't afford anything else, but nowadays they are seen as retro and ironic...

There are plenty of bikes that'll get the piss ripped from you if you buy one, but oddly (and actually reassuringly!) the C90 isn't one of them.

i know we all have to have a thick skin here or we wont survive. i obviously have as i ride the aforementioned vehicle on a daily basis! in all fairness parts are easy to find,reliablity and economy is almost second to non. i love the little cubs and always have. nice to know you understand marjay!

They are crap though. I only rode one on the public road because I was in poverty for 6 months. Other than fuel economy they have no redeeming features at all.

redeeming features apart from economy? reliability,ease of use through town,spares easy to find, tuning options if felt so inclined and a large internet fanbase and community also not to forget retro charm! relatively comfy too. im not a fan of sports bikes for example,cant do with the leaning over the tank. we are all different mate.

If you're going around the world; maybe, thanks to the massive availability of parts and knowledge.

But for use in the UK, wouldn't be what I would spend my money on (again).

Same really as i don't believe vw cars deserve there cult rep though! I really don't mind all the shit i get from the young lads round here. It does what i need it to. Got a car for every thing else! I had a 110 Chinese lump in my last one. Lasted 3k and 6 oil changes before it ate third gear. Practically no difference to the 85cc lump. As for sleeper,go all nine yards and put yx160 pitbike engine in with trick bits from oo racing if i felt inclined! Couple of the blokes from c90 club have got some really quick (relatively speaking) cubs and they can shame a fair few things on the road

Baffled by the positive comments. These things are horrible shite They're not tough like the old Cubs (the 70 was the only one worth bothering with). The motors have a tendency to burn out exhaust valves if you really scream them (top speed is about 48, so you have to thrash the bloody things to to move forward). Handling is appalling. Skinny little tyres are prone to puncturing. Not as good on fuel as you'd expect. Gearchange is the work of Satan. Likewise the bizarre front suspension.

Funny how misty eyed nostalgia to turn the most horrible old dogs into something beautiful

Having said that, no one would guy one of these if they cared what people thought, so good luck and fingers crossed this is a good one.

I've always loved these things. There is a model of the CT110 which is still built specially for Australia Post, though they also use C90s as well.

Always used to see posties zipping around on them, the damn things could get anywhere.

Also usefully, parts can actually be bought brand new from Honda, which contributes to their maintainability. I'd have one in a heartbeat, though I suspect I'd look a bit silly on it.
