How bizarre, I just watched the IOM TT Superbikes race and in every ad break there was a car ad. You would think if ever there was an opertunity to showcase bikes to by then it would be during the TT.

The tranny gambling advert drives me fucking mental, had to change channel on every break.

You're the first person I have come across to care about content in ad breaks. In an odd way I'm impressed, that's one unique thought process you have there.

TT is aimed at blokes... so you shouldn't be surprised if there were car, gambling ads... same happens when football's on... pretty decent marketing.

Motorcycle manufacturers don't really do TV advertising commercials as far as I am aware.

I doubt the market's big enough to justify the cost.

But this is the TT, mostly one hundred percent of the viewers are "market". I just thought it odd that car manufacturers thought it worth it to advertise then.

Bike manufacturers do produce video adds. If you look at youtube. Just probably only show them in countries with a bigger market.

Ad breaks have never really bothered me. Good excuse to go toilet/make cup of coffee/play games on phone.

Saying that, the advert what starts with the slide guitar does sound like a bike going through the gears... then its a fooking golf or something? Was properly disappointed.

I always kill the sound and get another beer/go to the loo/ignore the adverts.

The only car advert that I have found slightly amusing recently is the one with the tall girl going on blind dates with short blokes.Until a bloke with a similar height gets out of a tiddly car.

Well I'd say, the TT on IOM is the only motorcycle race, that's been watch even by non-riders, hence the non-motorcycle related ad + 99% of those bikes look quite the same as you can get them from the shop, which is a some sort of ad too. Thinking

Haha, I like the bit where the bloke with the monobrow is staring at the inflatables. Infact, I might change my avatar just to piss you off.

Biking is a minority interest thing these days. Most TT racers probably don't even ride a bike on the road. Many viewers probably only drive cars too. No point in wasting money advertising bikes on TV.

Could say the same about Crufts but they still advertise pedigree chum.

By market I mean susceptable to marketing.

I aint fussed about what ad's they show, the longer the break the better though, as the short ad breaks always catch me out lol!

Would be nice to have the Honda power of dreams Ad shown though, as it's a quality ad. But id settle for a Lynx ad if pushed.

Way more people have dogs than bikes, c'mon man it isn't complicated.

So what's the threshold for making a tv ad worthwhile? Is biking such a minority activity it warrants no promotion in mainstream media.

Considering it gets no promotion in mainstream media, I'd say yes.
