hello,

just thought i share this. i did ride my 125 with normal handlebars after 2 weeks of non stop on my sv650

it felt horribly slow and very weird. The sitting position was strange etc despite me riding it for a whole year. I raged the poor bike so hard as I was thinking there is something wrong with it speed wise. It felt really slow but wasn’t sure if it was a bike issue or just me coming off my sv felt very slow
still think there is something wrong with it . I guess just have to stop using the sv for a while so can get a feeling of it again and find out if it has lost power etc.
no I am not made I say it may have lost power as I did valve clearance and carb adjustment so think may have impacted it

anyway interested to hear anyone whom had the same experience at some point

I alternate between my R1 and my Varadero.

You notice the difference, but its a much nicer ride on the Varadero so I'm not overly fussed Laughing

When I first rode bigger bikes, I always got this swapping between bikes.
The more bikes you ride more often, the less it feels weird.

I'd been riding big bikes for years when I picked up my other half's YBR125 for her and rode it from Dulwich or somewhere out to Berkshire. I had a whale of a time on it. It might have had 10% of the BHP I was used to but it just felt like a different vehicle rather than a different bike. Flickable, chuckable, full-throttle or zero-throttle, nothing in between. The thing felt like I could bunny-hop it if I wanted to and I had to stop myself from jumping it off kerbs like I did on my BMX as a kid. It didn't really enjoy the motorway, but round town it was a hoot.

the engine feels reallyy flat and weak same with brake .
i did few stoppies on my bike and brought the rear up. i don't think you can do that with 125 the brakes are too weak for it

@##Paddy##, do you like me have to insure both or can you drive both using same policy

Yea, a common occurrence - unfortunately it's basically how the SV was designed!

Get some sprightly like an R6 and it'll actually have some character!

i meant the sym. the sv feels ok to me Smile
how does moving from sv to r6 would feel ? is it huge power suddenly the way which pushes you back into the sit or something?

Not if you're used to making full use of an SV; but where the SV tails off and you need to change up, the R6 starts to clear it's throat and takes off like a scalded cat.
Brakes are a fair bit sharper, as is the handling speed.

I quite enjoy taking a 125 out now and then, great fun for pissing bigger bikes off by just sitting there behind them through the bends Laughing Laughing

But the R6 will have no pull from low down, you will be sat there forever and a day waiting for the power to kick in, where as the V twin will have grunt from down low till it runs out.

The R6 from 0-powerband kicking in you can solve a rubix cube in the time it takes to get going Laughing

Good to know, I'm assuming you save a massive amount of cash that way? or is it a small %?

on mine multipolicy worked out around £900 for both but i paid

£260 for third party only on sym

£350 for third party and theft on sv with different broker

so overall cheaper regardless os using one of the ncbs( could only use it on one bike)

Been riding the CB 250 for the last week (which is comparable to a 125 probably matches a Varadero 125 for power) whilst giving the VFR a service, though the handling is acceptable and its easy to point where you want to go the lack of wind protection and having to rag it just to barely touch 70 indicated is so frustrating, I need my VFR and the power back!

If I were to willingly ride a smaller machine over any other it would have to have some exciting character to it (almost anything 2 stroke basically).

Ride your bike, learn your bike, stop these 'stoppies' you claim as it'll just end in tears.

You don't need an R6 yet and there's nothing wrong with your 125, it's a 125, it will be slow, it wont brake very well and it won't feel stable compared to a bigger bike.

it did lift the rear wheel around 50cm or more off the ground

will do it sometime again this week and ask someone to film it

the first few attempts were around 10 to 30 cm off the ground

i did it on 18 to 19 mph
