I was curious what would happen. Obvious spam, but for a very good idea and from a member who signed up a year ago (but I've never seen).

Thinking

Guess nobody is that pissed off, well done BCF for not being so grumpy. Although we are all probably far too poor to pitch in (well, any more than token amounts). But I am excited to see the results at the end.

How much have you/they raised so far? I saw a lot of prizes were sold already.

Is it spam? It's off topic certainly, but that's what this part of the forum is for I thought! I guess by that rationale any Kickstarter project is spam.

They're close to $200,000 - need $350,000 (£230,000), that's a ludicrously tiny amount in Hollywood terms, a fortune to most of us.

I contributed to two Kickstarter projects last year, both of which happened, hopeful that this one will as well.

Ironically I teach 3D Animation (CGI) as part of a BTEC college course, but I make replica movie props (Predator Masks, sci-fi weapons) as a hobby using the traditional methods, clay, silicone, polyurethane resin and lots of paint!

Guess that's why I like this project, it's all the old skills in what looks like a proper splatter film!

Any kickstarter project request on here IS spam, and this is just another spamming request for money.

This isn't a bunch of college students making a fan film - this is the same crew who made The Thing, Aliens and Tremors.

It wasn't my idea to post this topic here - Lance Henriksen (Bishop in Aliens) said I should.

Point A.
Woh woh woh woh hold the fuck on here

Aliens Total Gross $183,316,455

Tremors Total Gross $3,731,520

The Thing Total Gross $13,782,838

Lance Henriksen has a net worth of $1.5 million.

Take all those figures into consideration, then add in your quite frankly shoddy reason of Bering sea is related to bearings on a motorbike, take all of that and shove it directly up your arse sunshine, you're having a laugh surely? You want us to fund millionaires to make a film.

Alec Gillis the guy who is going this, shall we have some of his notable works?
Hollow Man Worldwide Box Office $191,200,000
Cast Away Worldwide Box Office $427,230,516
Starship Troopers Worldwide Box Office $121,100,000
Demolition Man Worldwide Box Office $159,055,768

You going to tell me they can't muster 300k between them? Instead scrounge off others to make their film for free, don't fucking think so.

Yaay! There are the reasoned BCF arguements I was expecting to see!

You will be banned from seeing the film when it's made.

Probably.

Although I don't see how you could be.

What you could do is come on BCF after seeing the film and say "I didn't fucking contribute a fucking thing to the fucking film and it was still crap as I was expecting a Michael bay style CGI fest".

You're talking to the person who enjoys stop motion and animatronics, I don't care for CGI, I certainly don't care for a bunch of rich Holywood faggots money grabbing for a film that I will no doubt, never watch, never care about....ooooh a horror film at sea, because those have always been really good films.

Banning someone from what is going to be a shitty B movie at best, is like telling a disabled child with no legs they can't play football, they know they can't play football, they have no legs.

Just watched 2 minutes or so, all I saw was an alien like creature, with tentacles pop out of a mans chest......how original, never seen that before....from the same man.....a million years ago.

Sorry but you sir are taking the piss, millionaires who have worked on massive Hollywood films asking for money, for what appears to be a rip off of several films, now I applaud animatronics and make up art because CGI these days fucks me off, but that takes the piss, you might as well just be a beggar in a Hugo Boss suit with a high end Rolex on, asking for money to feed the kids.

God wish I could stop responding to trolls! The only involvement I have in this is posting the link - I don't work for them, I don't know Lance, I live on a island where the closest connection to Hollywood is a Holly bush.

But I am not trolling, I am telling you I don't give a fuck about this film, or their money grabbing, or the idiots who have donated money to them, I guess you're one of them. Why do you think we care? You must have some involvement.

If I was trolling I would be telling you how good it is, whilst sniggering to myself and then trying act like I liked it, but it looks shit and it is clearly being run by some shisters who have millions in the bank but don't want to put their own money on the line, wonder why that is.

I don't know why you are trying to get our money for this film, you can give me as much abusive karma as you like, I am not the one trying to promote a shit film that needs money, because the rich people making it wont stake their own money.

I disagree.

People seem to think anyone advertising anything is 'spam' - I think you have to be a bit more discerning. Shit pirate dvds, endless kitchen design options, a user with no intention of partaking in the forum in any way - that stuff is spam.

Simply spreading the word about something you genuinely think is interesting to yourself and might be interesting to other people - that's not SPAM.

Why is posting a thread about a Kickstarter any less valid than any of the other irrelevant shit posted in Random Banter?

Too many people dying to click the red button and be 'offended by spam' rather than just using a bit of Common Fucking Sense and seeing the difference. It's like when someone comes on and mentions a product that's actually of interest to bikers - what is the harm? But noo, there's always the 'oh how dare you spam my forum' brigade, most of whom post more dreck in a day than we get from so-called 'spammers' in a month.

Pick a number between 1 and 10
multiply it by 2
Divide it by 2
Then take away the original number
This will give you the number of fucks I give

He should start a crowdfunding site to raise capital for this new media venture - turning up and not GAF on behalf of people too busy to not GAF.

It's the future, you know.

Why don't we all start a sh1tty thread asking for money?

Hey guys, send me $100,000 and I'll make a film of a bee tied to a piece of string terrorising a beachfront.
