Just seeking a bit of advice concerning leaving the bike outside for a while. Basically I am out of the country for 2 months maybe a bit longer and I will be leaving my bikes at a barracks, I'll be parking it in the same spot as my mates car who is coming with me, with a cover padlocked at the bottom and disc locked etc.

I'm gone until mid August so Im pretty sure the weather (German) will hold out, but what would you recommend me to do to stop corrosion and any other nasties to my bike, I got told coat it in WD-40 but I have no idea if this will work. The bike is a Sv650s K9, so what would you guys recommend that I do to keep it in tip top shape while I'm gone for 2 months? (I'm effectively parked in a big outdoor car park).

Any answers are much appreciated Thumbs Up

Give it a good clean and chuck some ACF-50 on it.

I recall the last bloke to leave their bike at the barracks ended up in their bike being used as target practice.

I'm sure that won't happen you course. Razz

that was a TA base.

If there is anywhere you can tuck it away inside that would obviously be better, back of a service bay or something.

Anyone you know who can just keep an eye on it as they're passing etc?

My bike lives outside all year round, normally wrapped under a cover (not bothered putting it on these past few days) but it's shielded from the worst of the weather by being next to a building in a small garden.

Is it just you or your whole unit going away? Haven't you got anyone down MT who wouldn't mind you using somewhere down the vehicle park? Otherwise, get it covered and preferably under a sheltered bike rack or something.
