Hi,

I'm in need of a new cover - my Oxford has torn and is generally too small. I see R&G do a large 'Adventure bike cover' which looks ideal but a quick look around the net provides some mixed reviews.

Has anyone owned an R&G cover for some time? Has it held up well and is it waterproof?

Thanks Karma

No experience with the R&G cover, however the Dr Bike cover I've got has been excellent. Originally bought for my 250 Hornet it fitted great, since then it has done a winter with the xt600e where it didn't fit very well, leaving the bottom of the front wheel exposed and collecting water on the rim. However it fits a treat on my Fireblade. Think it's a medium size.

Both the xt600 and the Fireblade I put it on straight after riding (i.e. hot bike) and have never had a problem.

Although after having a quick look on the R&G website it seems to be a similar price as the Dr Bike one so a pretty pointless post! Laughing

I have an R&G cover, I have had it for about three years. It isn't totally waterproof but you just have like condensation on the bike where it touches the cover. It has lots of places for attaching a chain through and apart from fading is in excellent condition. It has not come off in high winds even though I seldom bother to use use the under bike clips.

Hope this helps, mine is the sports bike one and is a good fit on my Firestorm.

Same as above really, had mine for just over a year.
Fitted my YBR and now my SV650 perfectly.
It's the "Ride recommended" type & other than colour fade its faultless.
I don't use the external pockets, but the cover has LOADS of them.
Only thing that might annoy, is the two clip fasteners for the bottom are not adjustable. But this has never been an issue for me, so I'd Definately recommend it to someone looking for a cheapish cover Thumbs Up

I have an Oxford rainex that seems to be doing ok. The guy in the shop did recommend the Oxford stormex cover as being the all weather solution but I had heard they like to wick water up from the ground

I'll never buy anything Oxford ever again. Plus they aren't big enough.

I use an Oxford (size big) to cover the K1300 'when it's cold' Smile But that gets a stiff as a board when cold so can be a brute to put on take off. Durable 'in a garage though'. Had it for about 7yrs.

The other cover is a Hein Gericke one much more supple as it is more like a fabric. Look better than the Oxford cover too. 2yrs.

I would use an RG as 'I think' they have decent idea about quality.

Been using a Silver R&G cover since last Autumn. Picked it up cheap off their ebay outlet shop for about £20. It had a bit of a crinkled finish which apparently it shouldn't have. Seems decent enough for me.

Not problems keeping bike dry, no issues with melting on exhaust, has holes for locking around wheels and pair of clips to go underneath. Not noticed any condensation issues TBH.

Here's my review of the R&G rain cover on my blog.

Same as others, Been using an R&G cover for the last 2 years, goes over my VTR and husqvarna and has no signes of ripping nor does the plastic clips of holes for the chain to go show and signed of wear/tear/snapping. Pretty happy with it TBH.

Thanks for the info, no massively negative stuff said about them so have ordered one. My Oxford has ripped and I needed to take the mirrors off each time I put it one which was a bit of a pain in the arse. This R&G cover was the biggest I could find so fingers crossed.
