I dont know how to embed, so if someone could do that for me that would be great!
I built this from stock. I was 20 years old when I started and now 21. It was also my first project bike.

Let me know what you think of it. I sold it last month. |

Shame you sold it. Showed it to another hornet owner. He will like.
Did a good job with it. Exhaust is boring though. Sounds pretty standard, however, it looks the nuts. Normally with projects like that you lose money, so surprised you didn't keep for a while.

Sorry to say, it's not a project to me, you just changed all the parts for 'uprated' ones which by the state of your chicken strips on the rear didn't make you corner lower or faster.
It is a nice bike, just nothing special. ____________________ Previous: GSF600, FZR600 x2, ZXR750, XT600 Tenere, CB125, CZ125, ETZ 250, ER5, CCM R30, DRZ400, RF600x4, RF900x2, GS500, VTR1000F, 640 SMC, CB250 NIGHTHAWK, GT550x3, GPX750 TE610, CB500, X11x2, SV650, ZING 125, TL1000R,CB250 Superdream, CBR1100XX |

It's probably not what you wanted to hear, but it's a nice tart-up.
I'd hardly call OEM Nissins with what appears to be chinese-sourced wavy discs "racing brakes" - I'd be expecting some ultra trick calipers from like PFM/ISR/Brembo grabbing some cast iron or carbon ceramic discs to be called "trick".
At least you didn't call it a streetfighter, although you mentioned that it was a "sportsbike" . Commuter with a detuned superbike engine at best which has the hidden ability to be a competent wheelie machine, but out and out sportbike it is not.
Not a bad effort mind and that braced swingarm didn't look too bad either. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

thank you for the comment. I couldnt agree more. I would like to be a bit more adventurous with my next bike project, but wanted to play it a bit safe with my first one.
I say sportbike because, although as stock it is a commuter bike, it also had a LOT of weight reduction over it and some performance upgrades; Power commander, tuning, exhausts, K&N air filter and quick shifter. It has similar 0-60 as the fireblade (as from what I gather the only difference in TUNED and DE tuned engines were top end power) and I had this bike up to 170mph (on the speedo) which if it is 10% out, would be around 155. Definitely something that could keep up on the track im sure, but not your generic sport/superbike. I wouldnt look at this and call it a commuter bike though, I would think of those more as Varaderos/Suzuki GS series, 125-500cc's.
If I did this bike again, yes there would be some stuff I would change. |

Extremely tidy, job well done
I've never ridden the 900 version but there was something very hooliganistic about the 600 - fitting the renthals really changes the whole look and feel of the bike imo.
Dont know how you managed to part with it ____________________ Will work for petrol

Thanks guys.
Just after I sold it, I suddenly had a LOT of interest in it. I was pretty cheeky and put it up for sale at £3995 originally, being optimistic and also because I didnt really want to sell it so quickly, so gave me some more time to play around with it. Just after I sold it, I had a flood of people calling me up, one guy said he lives in Christchurch, NZ and wanted to pay me £4500 for it and would pay for it all to be picked up from my house and shipped to him. Cant imagine the cost of that!
I havent ridden one, but I always had a soft spot for the triumph speed triple. The motorbike shop who helped me with some bits and that I ordered some bits from (friends of my dad) kept trying to sell me a MV Brutale saying that it was the ultimate naked bike and quickest 0-120mph bike on the road and because of the upright position and the ability to see over cars, it was a much quicker and more versatile type of bike than the superbikes.
I LOVE the panigale 1199 though.
Edit: as far as suspension went. I changed the rear shock and upgraded that. I was about to get inverted gold forks put on the front just before selling it, but was already have a lot of people complimenting it and offering to buy it, that I thought if I didnt plan on having it for very long, that I may as well sell it how it was. |

I call bullshit on this, he is a lying PRICK!!! Why? Because I bought it off him. I still have all the emails detailing the problems with it
I paid less than £3k for it NOT £3500 for a start!
I bought the bike unseen and in good faith and had it delivered to me (my fault I know) The bike condition was not as described, I still have all the emails detailing the problems with it
I did a thread about it on the nest here.............
https://www.hondahornet.org.uk/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=27167
If you cant be bothered to read the thread (it has pictures too )
I can tell you a sample of the BULLSHIT he said about it...........
He changed and "upgraded the rear shock" BULLSHIT it was a standard shock and front springs!
https://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o222/woodyeee/IMAG0763.jpg
"It had never been ridden in the rain and cleaned every week" was more BULLSHIT he told me.
It had a Translogic quickshifter......well, it only had the actuator and the only bit of wiring to it was about 100mm long!!!
https://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o222/woodyeee/Quickshifter.jpg
It had a power commander that was plugged into itself and not the ecu,
https://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o222/woodyeee/powercommander.jpg
I still don't know if the pc3 works yet as I cant be arsed to connect it up yet.
He says he welded a new swingarm on, pity he didn't weld up the hole in the bracing from the side stand too!
https://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o222/woodyeee/swingerwithhole.jpg
Its all in my thread in the link on the nest.
So just to sum up, Alex Holdsworth aka sinner is a BULLSHITTING LIAR.
I have emails from him and evidence to back it up if he would like to respond or sue me!!!!!!! |

Did find it odd that it had a red spring which is a standard showa Honda colour for the cb900. That's why I said that would be a good upgrade.
So what was the shock upgraded to? Question for original poster. |

Couldnt remember the exact price, had it up at 3995 and thought I sold it at 3500, although you wanted me to pay you money because I accidently described the quickshifter as a Dynojet one when it was infact a Translogic one (which IIRC was about £300 MORE than the dynojet one).
[quote]I bought the bike unseen and in good faith[quote] Your mistake, sorry. You should have come and seen the bike before hand. I genuinely sold it in good faith and didnt know any of the faults you mentioned, other than the quickshifter being a different make.

The girl that I bought the bike from told me that it was upgraded rear shock. It also came with another rear shock which the guys who helped me build this bike told me was the original rear shock, which I sold on ebay shortly after buying it. As someone who was new to riding bikes/engineering on bikes, why would I ever suspect otherwise? Two different people told me it was upgraded rear shock, inc who I bought it from. I had no reason to question it.
| Quote: | "It had never been ridden in the rain and cleaned every week" was more BULLSHIT he told me. |
It had never been ridden in the rain and it was cleaned every week. I cherished the bike when I had it. Not to say I hadnt been caught out in a couple of spells on long rides, but never intentionally went out in the wet with it. I had a dirtbike for that. When I cleaned the bike, I cleaned over all of the bodywork, chains, tyres and components. I didnt take the bike completely apart and clean it with a toothbrush every week, so would explain it being a bit dirty underneath it all. Please remember it is a 11 year old bike.
| Quote: | It had a Translogic quickshifter......well, it only had the actuator and the only bit of wiring to it was about 100mm long!!! |
Discussed as above. The wiring WAS connected properly when I sold the bike. If you had come down to view it before buying it, you would have seen that for yourself. I can only think that something happened to it when you used that dodgey bloke in a beat up lorry to come and pick it up who turned up 3.5 hours late.

I paid for the Power commander to be plugged in and tuned by HM Racing in Edenbridge. They should still have records of it. I never disconnected it as I found it too much of a pain to get to where it was due to the tail unit (im sure you will agree on how much of a pain it is). If it wasnt connected up properly, feel free to call them up and ask them about it, they will probably still have records of it. If they hadnt done it, then they had ripped me off too, by telling me they connected it when they hadnt.

I have said this before, but I am truly sorry you felt this way about the bike, but I genuinely sold it on good terms. As far as I knew after you called me It was only an issue with the quickshifter being the wrong make after looking at pictures. This is why I met you half way and offered you money back.
Obviously you still have a lot of anger/hatred towards the deal, but for what its worth, i'm really impressed with the work you have done on it. The exhausts scrubbed up really nicely and the respray really improved the overall look of it. The Tail unit also improved the look of it a lot and made it look much newer. It also makes the indicators much more visible which was always an issue. Sell the Rizoma indicators if you havent already because IIRC they were around £100+ . |

Dude,
I'm sorry to say this, but you just lost all credibility in my books! In our instances, irrespective of whether you're 21 or NOT, there's LOADS of younger forum members on here that have been fettling and tinkering away from a much earlier age and have been honest in the process. I won't name them, but if you scroll at the most-read treads in this sub-forum, you'll gain an appreciation!
"It was what the previous owner told me, honest"... well at the end of the day, when you buy a bike, you check prior to that what the standard specifications are and start quizzing why they're not standard! Unless there's a rack of receipts to say that work has been done to achieve xyz, I don't take word-of-mouth as proof.
It appears that you caused a lot of aggro for the unfortunate chap that sold it, but it looks like that he's done a pretty good job rectifying some "issues".
In some instances, forum members are often very happy that their former bike is making its rounds, but this should not be considered as being a good example!
Rant over. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Well, you are either thick as shit to not realise that the quick shifter and dynojet kit made no difference or a dishonest cunt.
But you didn't even try to look ignorant and stupid gracefully.
Never ridden in the wet means that. Caught in a shower and then dried off is different.
You can't advertise as mint and never ridden in the wet then say, well it's 11 years old that's why it's rotten as fuck under the shiny tat I bolted on. ____________________ Previous: GSF600, FZR600 x2, ZXR750, XT600 Tenere, CB125, CZ125, ETZ 250, ER5, CCM R30, DRZ400, RF600x4, RF900x2, GS500, VTR1000F, 640 SMC, CB250 NIGHTHAWK, GT550x3, GPX750 TE610, CB500, X11x2, SV650, ZING 125, TL1000R,CB250 Superdream, CBR1100XX |
