Car insurance is the same, TPFT is cheaper than TPO. Really not sure what the logic is. Some times fully comp is cheaper again, so when I do quotes for cars or bikes I always make sure to try every single option to make sure I'm giving the robbing scvm as little money as possible ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

The same dodgy geezers are still out there looking for insurance, you're just encouraging them to get more cover

I honestly don't think there is any. Evidence: those quotes.
Laugh it off, play the game, pay bottom dollah. |
I don't make the rules... But I'm certain you'll agree that it would be fairer if I did though.
From Moneysupermarket
https://www.moneysupermarket.com/car-insurance/third-party-fire-theft/
"Cost of third party fire and theft insuranceSome people choose third party fire and theft insurance because they presume it is cheaper than comprehensive cover. But it is always worth comparing premiums for different types of policy.
Motorists who take out third party or third party fire and theft insurance tend to be riskier and make more claims. Insurers therefore pay out more for limited cover and so push up the prices for these policies to cover their costs. So you might find that a little extra premium would buy you a lot more cover with a policy from the next tier"
From Petrolprices
https://www.petrolprices.com/understanding-insurance.html
"In the UK most insurance companies are trying to discourage people from buying third party insurance cover only. Insurance companies are doing this by increasing the price of their third party cover. As a result third party insurance is often more expensive than full comprehensive cover."
Some other cnuts
https://www.thirdpartycarinsurance.org.uk/
"It used to be the case that third party policies were relatively cheap options, but fewer and fewer car insurance companies are now offering them, and the justification they give for this is that we have now reached the stage in which one of these policies can actually cost more than a comprehensive one, and therefore there is no point in buying one. This is completely twisted logic.
It is probably correct that the average third part policy is at least almost as expensive as the average comprehensive policy but this is because the people who buy them are usually younger drivers, with cheaper cars. Since younger drivers have a much higher accident record than older ones, this is business which a large number of insurance companies now prefer to avoid so they have either pulled out of this section of the market or put their prices up considerably. The truth is therefore, that the reason why there is little difference in cost between the two is because TP has been made more expensive relative to comprehensive, and it has become more expensive because customers who buy it have, as a group, more claims than drivers who buy comprehensive cover for their more expensive cars" ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

this probably goes without saying but never accept renewal quotes and never use a broker like carole nash. they always gouge you.
I've had renewal quotes go up every year that were always beat by moneysupermarket.com quotes. usually by orders of magnitude greater than 100%!
also again probably common knowledge but bear in mind your ncb wont be honored after 2 years by almost everyone nowdays. so if you're taking a break from riding keep this in mind. I've lost 5 years before much to my distress. |

This thread makes me saaaad.
Whitehall loves meddling and regulating: maybe they should mandate that insurers should have to give prices for all available levels of cover.
Still, you paying more means I pay less only not really but it's a comforting fiction. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
