I had this exact idea when I was about 16, glad someone finally made it reality! Although the way they've done it is far more ingenious and more importantly cost effective, than using what would be a 360 degree treadmill.

It needs to be a bit bigger to use it for Arma2 or 3

I too had this idea a long time ago, nice to see it becoming reality ... I've chipped in my $10.00.

Why is it? It's more cost effect, probably more reliable, and I imagine responsive than any other mechanical way of doing things.

Doesn't bother me, my mummy says to ignore them when they laugh at my special shoes.

At first I was like, "Meh, can't believe how much is going into making GAMING more realistic, what's wrong with the real world?!"

And then I was like, "Oooooh, virtual tourism, walking around historical or mythical environments... oooooh, full immersive education..." Cool Cool Cool

For gaming I would hate it. It's gonna be marketed as the closest thing to reality we can get, but I know it won't really be that close to real life at all. It just won't. There'll be limitations you need to adapt to and work around. For example, walking up/down stairs and climbing up/over things. Currently impossible. And this would bug me.

However... the potential to casually stroll around EPIC, EXPANSIVE, ACCURATE, and reasonably lifelike environments and scenarios just for fun/education... now THAT is cool. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

No videogame do you actually have to walk up stairs any different to moving forward. They can't so virtual ladders and steps you know!

I thought most gamers played to slob out for a bit.... I can't imagine Lardy McFatfuck lasting 5 minutes on something like that let alone a proper marathon session on COD for example.

I am Lardy McFatFuck and I claim my Happy Meal.

I think this looks amazing, in certain scenarios. For games like Arma, COD and Battlefield, yeah, it would be horrifically entertaining and immersive, but as someone who takes being unfit to the level of artform, I'd be knackered after 20 minutes playing it.

That said though, this thing really has the potential to motivate people like me to move more, which can only be beneficial in terms of burning some calories.

Apparently I'm not allowed to shoot people in the real world. Evil or Very Mad

I'm confused. Why on earth would I want to climb out of my comfy chair and exert myself with sweat and panting breath while playing games? I get enough of that shit in the real world, chasing my kids through the woods and nearly busting an ankle most times.

Or skirmishing. Anyone done skirmishing? Or paintball. Compare that with CoD etc. Special Brew to the right, Pringles to the left, blowing people's heads off while sat in a nice comfy chair. Isn't that the whole point of PC gaming? Comfortable simulated violence. Thumbs Up

Would be good for arcades - If I ran one I would chip in $500-$700 to receive one.

I would loose so much weight playing any fps it's unreal.
As others have mentioned, if anyone would splash out big bucks on one, they need to ace it with the accuracy aspect. If it's even a little bit out, it'll be a huge flop. Personally though, I'd made the fucker out of cast iron or something like that. I can imagine that brace breaking after two days.

I have to admit, I was dreaming about something like this when I was 14.
