I agree against tail gating, but I think middle lane hogging is fine as anyone who wants to overtake, can do so in the fast lane.

If I pull into the slow lane, I might not get back into the middle lane without slowing down.

not trolling, just reluctant to give up my place in the middle lane.

I can get past anyone going slower, and anyone going faster can get past me.

So hogging the outside lane is still ok? Sweet.

Well, it's either trolling or being a little hard of thinking. Enjoy your fines if they ever bother enforcing it...

It's kind of difficult to explain to those who don't get why it congests motorways what the problem is without waving my arms or having prop toy cars. But, think of the scenario where you're hogging the middle lane and a car behind is doing just very slightly faster than you. He has to overtake temporarily 'blocking' the whole road despite the inside lane being free (undertaking is frowned upon). Cars 3, 4 & 5 come along and want to go faster still but can't. You, colin, have just created congestion all by yourself.

Oh, and use your judgement to pull back into the middle lane... if you don't look far enough ahead to be able to anticipate the situation then you probably should just stay put in the the correct (left) lane...

And I still hope you're a troll - surely an enthusiast can't be that clueless

Rather than sticking to the left lane like glue, I'll pop into the left lane if need be to let people past, but return to the middle.

Most of the time, there is no problem staying in the middle, as the car overtaking me, is not holding up anyone else. It's just that people expect you to return to the left lane, even when they can easily get past.

You get people who will tailgate you rather than overtake as they think it's their right to bully you into the left lane so they don't have to bother changing lanes.

Sorry didn't check general bike as it relates to all vehicles so thought it would be best found in found on net. As that is where it was found, also haven't really been checking general bike chat for a while.

If you're genuinely observant and alert enough to quickly spot someone coming up behind you every time, and fast enough to move to the left well in advance of them arriving at your rear bumper, then I don't see a problem. But I bet you're not.

I bet he's not too - he's not observant enough to pull back out to overtake so why would he be to let someone by...

I wouldn't pull over if they can get past, but I would if they couldn't.

So you're observant enough to know that they can/can't get past but not observant enough to pull back in yourself without slowing down?

Sounds like you're just a little self centred and careless/clueless and are simply trying to justify it...

i dont give a shit if some one is in the middle lane as long as they move over if im coming up behide them, i generally stick to the middle lane because im normally faster than the slow traffic but slower than the fast traffic,
if some one comes up my arse and there is no room on the right then ill move over, but if there is room, ill fucken stay where i am and they can use the fast lane, easy.
