Accident help (Little Common Rd, Bexhill)

Driving along all nice when suddenly the bike decides to accelerate from under me and wheely us off, no time to hit the kill switch and brakes are usueless.

This was on the K75 which has 84k miles and is 20 years old, this bike is fuel injected if it makes a difference.
Bike was idling ~500rpm higher than usual for 15 miles or so before.

Is it likely the police are going to do anything? No one else was involved, but are they really going to believe that I wasn't just trying to wheelie?

No, but it wasn't on purpose anyway, witnesses may say I tried and failed to pop one.

All I can guess is maybe the throttle cable got bound? Closing the throttle done nothing.

And is it really worth fixing? Needs at least:

Front master cylinder
Headlight
Handlebar
Right peg hanger and pegs
Possibly the crank cover
Radiator hose
Right indicator

Also brake fluid fucked the tanks paint.

And of course whatever caused the accident to be fixed..

Slight road rash where my jacket rode up on my side and a sprained wrist.

Jacket, gloves and boots saved everything else.

If nothing has been damaged other than the bike, and no one has been hurt other than you, then there's no obligation to report it. The only way the rozzers are likely to get involved would be if someone rang in to report that you were steaming up and down, flinging kittens from a backpack into the path of oncoming traffic.

Then they'd say that you were on a K75, at which point the police will put the phone down with a hearty chuckle.

A vehicle defect is a statuatory defence against a dangerous driving charge and it would be for the police to prove there wasn't one.

In the unlikely event you are interviewed by the police, stick to your guns.

I've had a positive throttle lock on a bike too. It didn't accelerate but my T500 stuck on wide open throttle as I tried to roll off at the end of a straight with keys located out of reach. Scary biscuits.

It landed up doing 90mph on wide open throttle and had drum brakes. The brakes however stopped it and stalled out the engine. Turned out the throttle cable had fallen down onto the cylinder head and melted

If a bike starts to lose control, you should grab the clutch, can't see how people can't Laughing

Air leak won't typically cause it to max out the rpm, which would be needed as well as a hamfisted clutch operation to lift the front wheel on the dinosaur you are riding. My R1 won't come up if I wang the throttle open in 2nd, it'll get a bit light but won't fly up.

Believe me I've tried to wheely on purpose with this beast and it won't!

It took literally a second before I was thrown off the back, no chance to grab the clutch.

I'd admit if I wheely failed, but I was just coming home from shopping at Lewes.

Cars in front and behind.

I did have a pillion, not the heaviest person though, the bike lifted and then fell on it's right side sliding for about 40 metres.

Done about 3k miles on the K75 and 1k of them abroad in the past 3 months so it's not like I don't know how it handles!

I really am perplexed, would a binding cable cause the high idle too?
Throttle seems fine now but of course it's likely to have been a bit shaken back to normal position...
I assume the newer push/pull double cable throttles would have avoided this.
