Any decent places you can recommend? Nothing to rough or 'weird' even though I don't have a big budget, around £800 for a studio really. Ideally somewhere that has a good night Life, and interesting atmosphere.

Getting rid of the car and tubing it.

How central? I've lived in Hammersmith, Shepherd's Bush and Ealing. Shepherd's Bush was the most interesting of the three. You can walk to Holland Park and Notting Hill easily enough from there. Fulham is quite nice (most of it) but pricey.

Shoreditch is very trendy and close to town, you could bus it from Shoreditch. Bow might be pricier than your budget, but it's on reasonable tube-availability, even parts of Hackney are becoming quietly gentrified due to arrival of studenty-professional types.

Can you define "weird" ?

To me, even parts of Shepherds Bush and Fulham are "rough" Laughing
(but correspondingly, parts of them are very nice)

This isn't bad ...
https://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/details/29188857

(if its real! ... even my lettings-agent daughter admits that agents often put together bogus ads with pictures of different parts of different flats, just to draw people in)...

What makes me wonder if its real is the bathroom: looks mighty palatial for such a small studio. BUT the studio itself is nice, and the area is pretty good. Right around the corner from Warrs HD, though, so slightly embarrassing on that front ... Laughing ... but the vicinity is pretty good, far enough away from council estates, and quite a few decent pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as five minutes walk from Fulham Broadway tube.

If I were desperate to live in Fulham and that was a real advertisement for a real flat, then I'd probably be happy to squeeze all my stuff and myself into that space. Have to downsize the dog and the library, but its a pleasant enough space for a single working person with a busy social life.

The door and the handle are identical in pictures of the studio and the bathroom itself. And the angle of the roof checks out too. I reckon it's genuine.

Mebbe you've got to share it.
London has some little weirdisms like that.

You have a so-called self-contained bedsit (livingroom, bedroom, kitchen units) but you have to share a bathroom with other people anyway - and yet its not called a flat-share. I've seen (experienced) it regularly enough in the past.

No cooker would be a bit of a limitation!

Shared kitchen I assume. Writing your name on the margarine. Like being a student all over again.

Naaaaaah, get a baby Belling, bung it on the worktop. I used to live in a tiny bedsit, had a bed, sink and a boiler and a worktop with a baby belling on it (but a shared bathroom), they can manage a roast. Just.

Lived in West Hampstead & Kilburn for 3 years. The latter being a decent location, in Zone 2 of the jubilee line and Kilburn is an interesting place. Mr. Green

Appreciate all the replies will give each a look. Thumbs Up

Would the estate agents in the 'posher' areas be any different to those in the not so fancy areas? I know some have a certain type of client like professionals etc. I had a quick look around and there's a few in South Kensington for £600 a month.

I don't think so. I have never used an estate agent thankfully (until I moved to belgium) but I'd advise on being very wary on using the larger estate agents like Foxtons, which is aimed at the more upmarket properties for professionals. They are renowned for screwing tenants out of their deposits and playing silly buggers with contracts.

I used to live in Paddington/Bayswater, just at the top of Queensway. Nice spot, lots of different tubes nearby and you could walk back from Oxford Street if the mood took you. Think I was paying about £700/month for my studio flat, but it was about 10 years ago now Neutral

My girlfriend is presently living in London in guardianship properties. She's presently living in a 3-bed garden flat in NW6 and paying £350p/m for the privilege including electric, gas, water and council tax bills. Some of the properties can be hit-or-miss, but she's struck it very lucky with this one. Might be worth a look, if you're flexible? Put the other £450p/m in to savings, and you'll have a deposit to buy after a couple of years! Thumbs Up

Thanks again guys, tenancy runs out here soon so will 'hopefully' have chosen a good spot to move to.

Incidentally, looking around Maidstone (where I am now) You can get modern flats for peanuts, I can't put up with the commuting though!
