Hi all. My swing arm bolts thread has gone, can't get anyone to re-thread it so going to buy a new one.

Is there a way to get it on? A bodge?

Here's a picture of it:

Want to ride the bike, and buying a new one so damage to it doesn't matter... Very Happy

To stop it coming out, if you wanted to play with fire and possibly get burned, drill a hole through the bolt and put a big nail through it and hammer it both ways round the thread.

I do not recommend doing this. The bike will handle SO bad and probably cause you some serious death related injury Neutral

On another note looks like I'm going to wait it out, again.

Get the nut, file the inside smooth, hammer it on the spindle and spot weld it in place. Bodgetastic. Laughing

Would be easier to just wait it out and get a new one lad. Engine will inevitably need dropping in the future. So will just wait. Going to go to an engineering firm later.

Careful filing of the damaged threads could mean you could get the nut on again as long as that's not damaged and there are enough threads left on the bolt

You can get thread restoring files but most places don't stock them so would be an interweb order by which time, you're new bolt will have arrived.

Other than that, short of welding a nut on, you're buggered until the new one comes Smile

Have you had the bolt out or managed to get any grease to it? If not, good luck getting it out, had to cut/grind mine out of a TS frame.

Any half-competent machinist could fix that. The pic isn't good enough to see the extent of the damage to give any advice remotoely.
