The first time I met Norman was when he helped me pick-up my bike off the floor. *I was due a fall and where better to do it than meeting a group of bikers, (all but one) I didn't know, and about to spend a week touring Wales.

Minus some man points we set off from a Cafe near the Cat n Fiddle pub. I led the way towards Shropshire.

First time I'd been to the Raven.

I practised my mobile photography.

Piss-Stop.

Soon we were in Llangollen, so I showed them the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

£17 a night. Clean and great facilities. i.e Secure Parking for +12 bikes. Had a great night with Bob the owner (and his wife is well fit).

Step out from the front door and look left.

Caernarfon was to be Basecamp, but I had the urge to visit Pembrokeshire again. Before that we had some fantastic run outs through the Snowdonia National Park. Capel Curig [Still makes my balls tingle when I think of those roads....great]

Evenings were spent sampling everything alcoholic with my favourite venue being the Black Boy.

The lads. (I use the term loosely as at 45 I'm the young tearaway)
Left-Right. Norman, Dave, Shaun, Me and Julian.
https://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m174/howlingterror_2006/Wales%202013/DSCF1945_zpsbfc8d6a3.jpg

I know Shaun through my girlfriend, so when he invited me to join the others I knew they'd be good blokes...as he is a good bloke. Thumbs Up

We were lucky with the weather and only got a soaking on the 1st day.

2nd day we went to Anglesey and changed a headlight bulb. Not before we investigated Shaun's overheating Deauville.

As we all had cameras I left it upto the others to take the majority of photos. I may update this thread if I can be bothered.

With a copy of 'The Best Roads' in my tankbag I headed South (ish).

Using the fast idler like an overdrive I could maintain a fast enough speed to have both hands free for photography.

Into sneak mode...difficult to do with race pipes on a ducati.
The idea is to do 1 night of wild camping and I fancied doing it at a lighthouse.

No bother..the wall provided good cover and shelter.
https://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m174/howlingterror_2006/Wales%202013/DSCF2009_zpsb4cdc8f0.jpg

I had a view of the pretty flowers from my tent and had a good kip when the sun went down.
https://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m174/howlingterror_2006/Wales%202013/DSCF2012_zps7d192eb5.jpg

No wind or sign of rain = no tentpegs. Plus it meant I left without a trace.

I only took a few more photos, to tell you the truth I was too busy enjoying the riding to bother with stopping or fumbling about in the tankbag. The roads were in good condition and the locals drive in a progressive fashion shall we say. I followed a transit pickup and he was hanging the back end out on the damp corners. It was marvellous.
A CBR600RR and a VTR Firestorm (with a small flag of Wales attatched to it) caught up with me through a village and shot off overtaking on double whites...I overtook them on the drying twisty roads. Man point awarded. Thumbs Up

Up the coast and met the lads in Llandudno. I didn't like it. I've never liked it.
https://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m174/howlingterror_2006/Wales%202013/DSCF2018_zps7607a6de.jpg

More zipping around and then all too soon it was time for a last pint of Sithannan (superb tasting beer).

Left the the lads on the A5 as they wanted to visit Chester and I
made my way back home via Delamere forest and a meet-up with a mate.

Good nights kip...Woke up and got back on the bike for a quick spin around Derbyshire.

*In my defence we were supposed to meet at the Cat n Fiddle pub but it was shut. I noticed them parked at the cafe and pulled in. The parking is on a hill and I didn't put the sidestand down all the way. It fell over quite gently and only a few scratches to the mirror and pannier.
I felt it broke the ice. Mr. Green

Enjoyed that, nice to see someone getting out on their bike. Torrential rain in NE Scotland at the moment. On the bright side the local plod are having a biker blitz this weekend so hopefully they're all getting wet and generating no revenue Wink

It's a possibility as I know the others went to Porthmadog and they didn't use the coast road. It would've been on Wednesday 15th of May.

And I suspect they stopped to look at the fork oil leaking all over the front brake. Later on I fashioned a fork-tube bandage to mop-up the leaking seal....and looked at the GPZ...another leaking fork seal. Laughing
