I have been riding just under a week now, coming back along a road black spot where there are lots of accidents. its a 60 limit, theirs a girl on a 50 in front of me going 30. im catching her up going 35, was gonna overtake her thought id just do a quick life saver first. Look round and there he is just about to overtake me on a bend ,he passes me and there is now a car fast approaching on the other side of the road, but he couldnt cut in because i wasnt that far behind this girl, so hes stuck in the middle of the road between me and this girl so i slam my breaks on and let him cut in, just before the other car passes about a second later. Tbh i think it was his fault for overtaking on a blind corner, considering we had only literally just got onto the national speed limit he could of waited for the nice long stright about 2 seconds further along the road.

Live and learn mate, dont wanna end up like me, 21 and held together by a Meccano set.

Glad your OK, just watch your overtaking, even if it was his fault.

well i was about 4 meters behind her and going 5 mph faster so i was slowly approaching, and then this guy tried to overtake 2 bikes on a corner.

i got a numpty driver the second day i was out after passing my test some twat in his mummies car decided that when i was sitting at a junction signalling to turn left onto a busy single carriage road that he'd pull up on my right side, not indicate, and then decide to turn left at the same time as me and push me over into the far left of the road. I got say I was very tempted to do one of two thing when we got to the roundabout up ahead:-

1. Pull the git out of his car and smash my brand new arai right into his face.
OR
2. Wait until the road about ahead and kick a nice dent in his shiny new car

In the end I had cooled down by the time we got to the roundabout and also didnt want to ruin my lid with option 1 and with option 2 I had the possibility of hitting the car to hard and dropping my bike Rolling Eyes

It's definitely Muppet season at the moment! My idiot count on my journey has been up from one or two to four to five at the moment. Even riding mega defensively - dipped headlamp, observing speedlimits etc., has no effect. Tonight it was a woman in a BMW who, I think, fancied my back tyre, she was driving so close to it! Also a 'professional' - i.e. a lorry driver, in the middle lane, nothing in the nearside lane, drifting over while using his phone - into me. Hopefully when everyone's done their Christmas shopping everything will return to (near) normality!

Last night I had a car pull out of me on a roundabout giving me no choice but to go round again - you get used to it.

Worst one I've had (besides getting knocked off Evil or Very Mad ) Was when I was riding with Dom, We are following a car and suddenly it slows down to about 5mph, Dom goes to go round so the car whacks on his indicator and pulls out into the middle of the road. Dom was lucky not to hit him. Neutral T*at.

I nearly got clipped on a mini roundabout, I had right of way but
some twat from another direction came at me, talk about brown
trousers time.

There is a mini roundabout in Thornton Heath, give way, sod that,
it's the most dangerous mini roundabout I know of.

I had my first stupid car driver today too. Guess what it was a volvo too Rolling Eyes It only pulled out right in front of me causing me to slam on my brakes and squeak my pathetic little horn at it.

It pissed me off though, Twisted Evil its not really the kind of thing i want to be doing at this time of year, as my bike is slipping everywhere on the roads (especially roundabouts)

Maybe because they arent supposed to be used for signalling friends/pissing off neighbours/shouting at idiot drivers.

I had my first nearly-bad accident the other day too - Volvo as well!

Going along to a large roundabout, not a soul in sight. Volvo in front of me decides to stop, on the exit for the roundabout, to let someone out of the car. I slow down and indicate to go round him. He then whips out into the roundabout without indicating, nearly having me off my bike. I gave him the old finger wag and headshake, and made sure to get as far away from the fucklump as I could.

Id had my Speedfight (First one) about 4 months, and I was just getting together confidence etc... I was riding down towards the village where there are 2 mini roundabouts about 100metres apart...
I was approaching the first mini and I slowed down, checked both ways, and proceded over the roundabout. About half way over and BANG!, A big bulkey Volvo comes out of nowhere and ploughs into my back end... Totally crushes my scooter, then reverses back off it...
Since then (Tough wood) Ive only droped my new scooter. So its getting better Confused

All I can say is on a bike you have to be looking out for others all the time because most of the time you see them, but they dont see you...

True binge

Just been out with my mate, and there's a huge roundabout that goes into the local shopping centre, and the amount of people in completely the wrong lane is unbelievable. Some woman nearly stoved the front of my mate's car in when she decided to change lanes without looking once, and then she was in the wrong lane to go the way she wanted.

As my old man said to me, treat every other road user as if there a complete twat, and I'm beginning to think he's right. I see so many people change lane without looking or just plain do what they want round here it's scary, made me glad I haven't been on my bike. Cos if they couldn't see us in a car, no way would they see me on my bike. My last accident has really made me think differently about the way I ride. No one else was involved and I came off at 30mph and nearly lost my left arm, so since then my whole attitude towards biking has changed and I'm never going to take anything on the road's for granted purely because you never know for certain what someone's going to do.

I've found that, although cars are a complete pain in the arse, the kids on BMX's that decide to just ride out into the road are as dangerous... Middle Finger Evil or Very Mad Middle Finger

Lol, I'd completely forgotten about that one. Laughing Just driving round the side of him and he puts the indies on, I brake when I see that and then he waits like he's realised he's an idiot so we ride past him. Just as we're going past he starts pulling into the drive. Shocked Numpty. Good thing I had no faith in the bloke and went to overtake at about 4mph really.

Feet and yards are still perfectly acceptable. In fact, while using metric units is widespread in science and engineering, only imperial measures of distance are used on the roads. We also tend to still think of our height in feet and our weight in stones, pounds and ounces. As for time being in base 60 (sexadecimal), we've got the Babylonians to blame for that! Very Happy

A meter is an unacceptable unit for distance as it isn't a unit, it is a measuring device. Rolling Eyes

Being as I'm a plumber I always work in Feet and Inches. Cant remember the last time I used metres or milimetres to measure with.
