Hello, im looking for another NSR 125 RK the older shaped ones, ihad a H reg 1990 one but was involved in an accident, they were the first geared bike ever had and i loved it, i think there quality bikes.

Ideally id be looking for one that needs some light engine mechanic work, or fairings need sorting out etc

Don't want to spend too much, as its going to be sort of winter project.

Going to retake my CBT in the spring and get back on a bike Very Happy

I may have one for sale. I'm torn between fixing and keeping or selling. When you say slight engine work is a suspected top end rebuild too much? I say suspected because i'm not exactly sure but it's looking that way. I live in Darlington, North East. Fairings are all there but saying that they are just worn would be an under statement. I just stripped them off this weekend as I am looking at getting the repaired and resprayed.

you got any pics of it?

Top ends an easy job anything is aslong as it doesnt mean splitting the engine in two and playing with the crank Laughing Shocked

What year is it? does it just need a rebuild and scruffy (typical 17 yr old lad has owned it) , i just brought a compressor from ebay to spray my car bumpers with so that aint a problem, top end isnt a problem anything else wrong?

How much you after for it?

Mechanical Condition - As I have said I suspect the top end has gone. Also the speedo cable has snapped that is all I can remember what is wrong with it. As I was stripping the fairing off last weekend I tried to start the bike but it wouldn't start, which I think is due to it being stood since the beginning of September. The last time I did have it running it was producing big clouds of white slightly blue smoke. As it ticked over it seemed to miss-fire and bog down every couple of seconds and then after about half a minute it would die if you just left it idling. Also there is a very slow puncture in the front tire.

Cosmetic Condition - Again like I said its all there but it is pretty tatty. Most panels have minor scrapes and scratches and there are a couple of cracks in the fairings. Also there are a lot of tags missing and is mainly held together with good old cable ties. I would like to add that there are several holes near the non existing tags in the fairing as the previous owner was an absolute idiot and decided to pop rivet the fairings together, and therefore, had to be drilled out to get the fairings off.

This is all going from memory but the bike is a 1990 NSR125RK which was imported and registered in the UK in 1994. It has about 22k Km on the clock.

I don't currently have any pictures of it. But I can get some for you tomorrow but as I said before the bike is currently naked. I will take pictures all the panels and the cracks and chips.

I also have two spare wheels and tires and a set of spare foot pegs (these are second hand and not new).

As for the price I know these bikes go for around £700 in decent condition and that for the spare I could get about £100. Therefore less say £200 for the top end and £100 to put new life into the fairings so i'm going to ask for £400.

Since I have had the bike I have had a new clutch put it and I have had the fork seals, chains and sprockets done.

If there is anything else you would like to know just ask. Also like I said before I am really torn in between keeping and fixing and selling and I am still weighing the pros and cons.

Well if the idiot that owes me 320 quid from ebay pays me like he said he would, i get paid this week an all i may be interested like, just gettnig it to me is the problem might have to get it picked up or something if you want to sell it. Smile

Get us some pictures and pictures of the bits aswell mate.

Last top end kit for my NSR cost me 170 for the lot but that was pattern part and it kept blowing head gaskets so im not sure how much originals would be, im still interested though. I can't really afford to buy a bike that i can just jump on and ride Sad

Just to say it is for sale as I have just passed my theory test today and the money from the bike will go towards my practical test and bigger bike.

My step father will be taking some pictures shortly as by the time I get up and get back from work its already dark. The bike will need to be picked up as its not currently running as I said before.

Hopefully post the pics tomorrow.

Here are the pics, hope you've got win zip as it would have taken too long to upload them all on dial up.

Just to say the pics make the fairings look more shinney than they actually are.

Also just to add that I forgot to tell my step father to take pics of the spare front and rear wheels and the foot pegs. The foot pegs have general ware and tear and so does the front wheel, which is orange, but the rear wheel, which is white, is in excellent condition.

Don't wanna hijack ya post gammamanuk, but I could do with a set of tyres with or without wheels. Thats if you don't want the bike and NS125RK, wants to sell some spares. Also what section rear is on the bike? Looks larger than mine (no pun please Very Happy ). Cheers. P.S. I have a spare barrel, with only 1000 mile on it no scratches if any use and pretty much a complete engine in lots of bits, with brand new bottom end bearing and seals (still in packaging). Just a thought. P.S. I'm in darlo too.

Im not exactly sure what you mean by the rear section. If you mean the tyre or the subframe i'm sure that they are standard. You haven't got confused with my name have you as my names NS but the bike is an NSR.

I have an Black NSR125 RK 1990 (i.e. exactly the same as yours... Well untill I got me spray can on it), and I am sure I have ridden past ya before around darlo. And as in rear section I mean the width of the rear tyre.

I bought the bike with the tyre fitted and haven't had the need to change it as it was near enough brand new. To be honest i've never checked might have a look tomorrow.

Well if gammamanuk, doesn't want the bike I would be interested in it, to add a few bits to mine. Esp the full fairing and the wheels. But I am desperate of some tyres, so if you could part with them, I'd be very greatfull. Thats if they are any good.

Gammamanuk's got first dibs. Rear tyre on the spare wheel is OK but I think the front on the spare will only have a couple of months left on it.

Anything is better than mine, I go through tyres like there is no tomorrow (think that says something about my riding , to many trips up heartside me thinks). What are the wheels like? All paint still on em? As for the bike it's self, bet I could get her going in half an hour. Not bragging there, it's just I have had mine apart so many times it's unbelieveable! Oh and of-course gammamanuk, has first say.

Front wheel is slightly grubby but all the paints there, just needs a clean really and the rear is immaculate was really surprised when I bought it or is it that i've got used to my current rear wheel being quite grubby.

Well I tell ya what we'll wait and see what gammamanuk, whats to do and then I'll get back to ya. But I wouldn't mind seeing another NSR 125 in the clarts, as it would make a change from seeing mine nakkered! Should arrange summit one time.

To get it back on the road all that needs doing to it is a top end rebuild if that is what is indeed wrong with it. The fairings aren't too bad and will manage to stay on the bike with a couple of cables ties so repairing and re-spaying the fairings is personal preference and finally the speedo cable will need replacing at some point.

Yeah I just checked on the internet before, didn't realise that Birmingham was that far away. I was thinking that I may be able to get my father to lend a van from his workplace, but he's only recently changed job so I don't know where he stands on lending company vehicles im guessing it shouldnt be much more than £30 in petrol money.

Sorry about taking so long as I haven't managed to see my father yet. I would be willing to drop the bike off an extra £20 on top of the £400 as long as my father can get the van. Thats if you are still interested.
