Bike was VERY nearly stolen last night!!!

So I used to lock my bike up outside my flat, secured against a lamp post by chain and with a front disc break. This is also right next to a CCTV camera so I felt that it would be pretty secure... Yeah right..

Go to leave out this morning, there's no chain on my bike, I look at the front disc lock and it's battered. My blood was absolutely boiling! A neighbour tapped me on the shoulder and explained what happened.

3 men came down in the middle of the night with bolt cutters and started working on my chain. He luckily noticed it and called the police, while he was on the phone they got through my chain and were working on the disc lock. This is when the police sirens must have got near as they got scared and did a runner. Fuckers even took the chain and padlock with them!!

It honestly makes you so mad that we have cunts like this in society. Chop off their hands and see what they can grab then!! I've managed with the help of some people to store my bike in a locked facility with new alarms, chains and disc breaks.

I know I should be happy I've still got my bike but I can't get over how pissed off I am with those cunts!!! /rant

PS.. Only had the fckin bike for 18 days!!

Oxford Chain HD, admittedly not the best of chains but I've seen so many videos showing how easy it is to cut through chains, even the £100+ ones.

They can come back, all they will find is a lamp post.

Will be following up with the police, asking them to check the CCTV. Hope all 3 of the cunts get caught and do time.

Get a decent chain like a 16mm or 19mm pragmasis or almax only way to get through them is an angle grinder and even with that cutting through a loose chain with an angle grinder is like playing Russian roulette and will take about 10 minutes. The noise would be ridiculous and the police would be there before there halfway throigh, there not cheap bit will last a long time and keep your bike safe.

Interesting, best alarm would be a police siren on the front of the house, that way if they were n the back and triggered it they'd think popo were out front and hop it

Well I live 0.2 miles from a police station, these guys obviously didn't care about the risks involved.

Anyone know of a cable that's alarmed? One that goes off if it's cut through / tampered with? It doesn't have to be big, small is actually better as I already have the bike secured, it's just an additional alarm to go off if someone tries anything.

Yeah it's my CG, I went to view it just over 3 weeks ago hence the time difference.

Bike is absolutely fine, nothing major, few scratches. Although I did find a screw on the floor - No idea if it's off the bike, off the lock or just a random screw!

Good on your neighbour for spotting them, otherwise the bike would be gone! Defo get an almax chain or something if you're going to leave it on the street. I think they claim that no non-power tool can get through it. So unless they bring a petrol disc cutter with them, you should be okay.

Now, either put bike somewhere safer or wait out for them with knives duct taped to your hands like wolverine.

Just be careful the police dont try and do you for something. Maybe illegal use of the lampost . I find that the police seem to look at ways of abstracting money from anyone whos details they get hold of.

Got hit and run off my bike and they asked that i visit the police station so they could check tax/insurance/mot documents when i reported the incident.
