well after writing off my lovely ZXR 400 Sad

R.I.P Thumbs Down

https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/pixelguyy/IMG_20130418_125850_zps0384d884.jpg

and finally recovering from

This:

and this:

I thought it was about time too get a new bike, i sold off the 400 as spares and repairs for £700 and decided to stick with the kwaks and get my self a ZX7R as they were the only half decent bike in my tiny price range, iv always wanted one but my insurance would be £1600 right now but in 3 weeks time after i have a year on my license it costs £411... so im waiting whilst i do physio on my broken wrist and cleaning the bike up so its mint when i get too ride it! Mr. Green

So i finally managed too get my hands on a black one, just needs a few things cleaning up and a wash, runs fine and only 26,000 miles! so its time too dish out a bit of money and make it a minter Cool

Here she is!

https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/pixelguyy/IMG_20130526_155825_zps342fbaf9.jpg

as you can see she doesnt look too bad but needs a lot of cleaning up and aftermarket parts fitted Smile before anyone asks about the EXHAUST the reason it looks so odd is because its a jph ducati exhaust welded on by the previous owner... looks silly but sounds awesome.

anyway first things first, i did the clean air mod as any ZX7r owner should! these bikes weigh a ton so every little helps.

https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o564/pixelguyy/IMG_20130531_115151_zps78491b3c.jpg

as you can see the bikes been sat for a long time, things have got rusty and dull and i decided to give the whole rear end a clean up and refurb.

dirty:

VERY off topic: Did your RST Slice do a good job protecting you? I hope I'll never find out for myself Sad

My crash was at around 20mph into the back of my friends motorcycle...

i was wearing RST pro series leather jacket, RST slice leather trousers, Arai haga rep helmet and RST pro series gloves with Forma F1 boots if anyones interested.

all the gear held up fine, although i did not slide i flew in the air and hit the foor, the trousers saved my knee from being hit into the concrete and the jacket saved my shoulder! the only thing the trousers did not protect were my bollocks denting the tank.

Nice one fella. Thumbs Up

I seem to be schizophrenic when it comes to ZX7R's, some pictures I love them, and others they look shit.

Yours in black looks brilliant though.

What happened in your accident?

It's good to hear you're back on two wheels. I don't know if I could ride on an open road again after a serious injury.

Nice looking ZX7R, you've got there, clean those six pots, just for sure Thumbs Up

Nice bike. I wish I could be bothered to make my 6r this nice but I'd rather to for a ride and make it dirtier Razz

Just a couple of concerns; the tail light unit won't pass an mot and could get you a fine from the police if they take issue with it. Silicone hose is also pretty dodgy to use in a braking system as it reacts with the fluid.

Nice bike, and tasteful mods.

I've recently fitted a smoked version of that rear lamp to my 7R. Keep your old indicators for MOT though, as they are supposed to be 260mm (I think) apart. At the last MOT the examiner did measure mine.

Are you going to get the wire wheel and high temp paint on those headers? Did mine last weekend and makes the bike look much better.

haha its all worth it, takes a lot of time though!

thanks for the heads up! as for the light i was also concerned about this but i permanently have my lights on meaning the taillight is always red as standard ones are so i think it should be okay Smile i still have all the standard parts just incase! also iv used this type of silicone hosing for all my brakes and none have had any problems so i think it should be okay! thanks Very Happy ill have a word with my friend who does MOTs see what he says!

iv already high temp painted half of the pipe that sticks out of the fairing and it makes the bike looks a lot better! as for the header area that is hidden i think ill just leave them until i get a new system Laughing

Looking good.

Just need to add POWAH!

I believe those tail lights are illegal as there's meant to be a certain distance between the indicators, and those tail lights fall foul of it. Can't find the wording online to back that up, so may well be talking rubbish though.

rubbed them down with some scotch brite to get the remaining crap off (scrotch brite is the rough stuff ontop of a washing up sponge)

and gave them a rub of autosol metal polish Wink

While this is true, I've had two bikes with it like it and passed at two fairly respectable places. Never got mentioned by the police, but then I never really get pulled over.

Might want to get a bit of rubber between the line and the clip or it will eventually wear through the PVC, then the braiding, then you'll die.

Good work so far though Thumbs Up .

funnily enough i had to remove the rubber because the pvc coating stuck too it lol, iv re-positioned them so that they glide freely and made sure the metal isnt very sharp so all should be okay! Smile
