Hello all,

Being the stupid person that I am, I first bid on an bike in e-bay and then decided to run an HPI check on it.

The check came out with a plate transfer and outstanding finance but I am not clear if the outstanding finance is on the bike of the old plate that was on it.

Here is a link to the report: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nv04ppr80ljawxs/Report.pdf

Can anyone advice?

Thank you

Edit: changed Advise for Advice so that Cansa is able to sleep tonight

I think it says it pretty clearly - the finance is held against a Citroen Van.

If I had a Citroen van, I probably wouldn't want to pay for it either.

Thank you very much for confirming. Now my biggest problem is that I have no idea whether to give you a "funny" or "helpful" rating Smile

If you buy it, print off that report and keep it with the documents. Then when you come to sell the bike, if someone does a basic check and it comes back finance outstanding but without details, you can show them your document to put them at ease.

I will do. For some reason I am just nervous about the bike. There is only one bid on it (mine) which normally does not happen to the items I bid on.

Here is the listing if it helps: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290926649478?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

I just hope it is that other people got scared by the HPI report just like I did. However something tells me that is not the reason

Might be the super low mileage and missing headlight, plus references to green laning that are putting people off, along with what I'd call quite a high price.

Ok, here's weird.

Do a tax check on it under the P800 reg and it throws a blank. Do it under the original reg and it shows the bike as taxed until october.

I'd be asking for the V5 document reference number and run an mot history check on it to see what the roadgoing history of it is, and see if the mileage has been changed.

Thank you Pete.

To be honest I didn't go into this with my head. I only looked around e-bay and gumtree, and it seemed a decent price for a 400 when I see bikes with less power and older go for between 850 and 1300. Plus there is another one pretty much the same going for the same price and it had a couple of bids.

There is something really fishy about it and I already sent him a message saying that I will not go through with the purchase. Then I sent another message asking for more details but has not come back to me.

At this point I really do not care if I win the bid (which I will probably do). I will not be paying unless I am convinced about it.

You can retract your bid before the auction ends, if you want to. I would pick up the phone and talk to the guy. Sometimes you get a better feel for stuff like that.

I sent a couple of messages to the guy today at around 6:00pm requesting further information but has not replied yet which increases my suspicion.

I will give him until the morning and if not I will retract my bid.

Thanks again Pete

Stop avoiding the obvious and try and ring him? eBay messages aren't always reliable and you MAY miss out on a deal

I would like to, but I don't have his phone number. He did not provide it on the messages he sent me earlier today when I asked some questions about the bike (before I ran the HPI check).

advice
Noun
Guidance or recommendations concerning prudent future action, typically given by someone regarded as knowledgeable or authoritative.

advise
Verb
Offer suggestions about the best course of action to someone: "he advised caution".

Oh and FYI...
"please advise" or similar phrases are pretty much hated round here.
Office email speak is not welcome.

Thank you for the English lesson. If you ever need one in Spanish please let me know and I will be equally as helpful.

I appreciate that you don't like these type of threads so by all means feel free to ignore them. I didn't request for specific people to reply nor demanded help. I asked politely if anyone would be kind enough to offer their advice and some thankfully did.
