Apologies if this has been covered before but my search capabilities cant find anything so here goes.......

Anyone on here ever sprayed a Givi topbox and can offer me some advice?

I've just bought an old worn & torn 40ish litre double helmet sized Givi Monokey off fleabay - scruffy but big and working. I want to spray it to match my Honda Candy blue Blackbird (or whatever they call that bright blue).

Also is there any advice anyone can give me in terms of securing it? I know it comes with the usual Givi lumps and bumps and all but my lady friend will be leaning back on it from time to time (backrest fitted) and as I cannot confirm her life insurance status I'd rather play safe (and.before anyone asks the obvious - yes I do have the proper Givi rack for it to hang onto)

ta

IF its in good enough condition and, fitted correctly it should be secure enough. I always put some cable ties around my plate just in case Thumbs Up

How much leaning against is she going to be doing?

Not that much leaning tbh. I've got one of those pillion mate things with a pad and handles that sit on my gut. I much prefer her to hold that than use the grab rail and sit back. I've got my chicken strips down to about 5mm with her using the pad but when she sits further back the bike feels too 'floaty' in the twisties. Chances are shell be resting against it on the occasional motorway stints.

don`t try spraying plastic unless you really know what your doing..
I used this stuff and it works well ..only improves the look of the original colour obviously you have to use it regularly

It isn't easy to paint flexible plastic, are you planning on using rattle cans?

As a minimum you will need plastic primer to help the paint bond.

Cheers gents. Yeah, rattle cans all the way. The box is battered and stained so its past the point of minor refreshment tbh.
