Advice needed fellas...
Anybody got experience of challenging parking tickets from the world's greatest cnut authority that is Westminster?
I was parked at the rear of a bay at Cambridge Circus. As it was packed I had to park it straddling the bay with front and rear wheels outside (not wholly) the markers. It was ignored by one attendant as I saw him walk by but when I came out of the shop another had ticketed me.
Worth challenging or just swallow it and pay the £65?
Excuse the drawing

To be honest I wouldn't of thought you'll get very far.
Even in bristol they've become right c-nts about parking the past year. We have the usual specific MOTORCYCLES ONLY parking, but they've even done some people for sharing bicycle parking chaining their bikes to the bars like the ones in the background of your picture.
And in those cases it was in extremely quiet areas with virtually no bicycles currently or likely to use the parking - seems they send their ticket-minions out to the places they think will get the most cash rolling in |

Doesn't matter what it shows on your picture, what does it show on theirs?
I wouldn't fancy my chances with Wastemonster, they do this for a living. Sorry. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I'd hate to live/work somewhere like that, in the 3 years I've been riding I have parked on pavements, double yellows, loading only bays, car specific parking spaces and several other places.
Not once have I got a ticket. ____________________ Generic XOR 50, Gilera SMT 50, GSXR 400 GK73A, Ducati Monster 600, Honda Hornet 600.

Personally I'd challenge it. What is the PCN code - footway parking? If the bike was within the bollards (which appear to be the only clear markers) I don't see that there's anything there you've done wrong as there is no other clear marker of where the back of the bay ends and its not as if you've intentionally parked over a raised kerb on a pavement.
Doubtless Westminster Council will try and fob your appeal off but they do that to everyone so stick to your guns, you just need to persevere with the appeal to the adjudicator who I believe will acknowledge the end of the bay is not clearly marked and allow your appeal.
Too many people capitulate to the authorities and pay up as they're too scared when they talk about raising fines if not paid within 14 days, however the success rate of appeals against Westminster that go to the adjudicator is something like 70% which shows you just how many tickets are wrongly issued (and how little regard Westminster Council pay to the facts)...
You should consider putting the details on Pepipoo you'll get plenty of help on there usually regarding appeals. ____________________ My bikes: 2003 KAWASAKI ZRX1200R, 1996 YAMAHA DIVERSION XJ900S |

Personally I'd be sacking her off on medical ground of "we can't really have an officer who may not be able to recall the details of an incident if we need to rely on her as evidence in court.
thus she's not just lost out on a promotion, but her employment too.
but then i'm feeling grumpy today. |

Thanks a lot to those who encouraged me to fight this ticket or gave me advice! The golden rule being that you should always fight a parking ticket.
Got my letter back from Westminster Council yesterday which saved me handing over £65 of unearned wealth to those shit bags on the council.
Here's the letter for anyone who is also encouraged to fight an unjust parking ticket.
I'll be monitoring that bay to see if they ever get round to painting the boundary or just use it to catch people out.

What makes me laugh about this letter is the fact they act as if they are doing you a favour when they clearly agree with what you have said bastards |
