I know bikes seem to be invisible to uk car divers, is it as bad in France? I think there are more mopeds over there, so maybe they are a little more sympathetique, non?

I fancy biking down to Spain, missing out all the motorways, just using A type roads, and west coastal.

Doable?

French are more observant and courteous than UK drivers IME.

I've driven over there in a car and the list of stuff you need is as long as your arm... Not sure if it's the same on a bike tho.

I think they are pretty hot on non E-marked exhaust pipes.

Definitely a much better attitude towards bikers right across the continent.

French LOOK OUT for motorcyclists. They move over for you on the peage and on the local roads too. They have a more welcoming attitude to bikers over there. Make sure you acknowledge them after the pass with a polite foot out or a wave.

If you head down through Rouen and Pays de La Loire, you can happily get lost and not make it out because it's so beautiful.

The Pyrenees is going to be spectacular in summer too.

When I went over there, I just made sure I had headlight reflectors, high vis in the car, warning triangle and breathalysers.

Tempted to head over in the bike at some point though.

All I can say is empty roads.

Was working in Rouen last year and was told to leave the office by 14:00 as the road to Calais got busy.

Well we did leave after 14:00, busy means one other vehicle on the road.

.. But yeah, I ended up with beam deflectors, spare bulbs, hi viz, fire extinguisher, speed camera locations removed from TomTom etc.

fag lighter socket wired from the battery. Can always charge phone etc then.

I'll be going Le Havre to Catalunya this time next year by c90, can't wait.

Riding in France kicks the shit out of the UK. Less people, better roads, better weather.
