I have one, and the design of the release mechanism for the visor is terrible. It’s fiddly and breaks all the time, and I wouldn’t call it reliable. Right side seems a lot easier to fir the visor into than the left.

I've just spend ages putting it back together after it all fell apart, when I wanted to change my visor.

AND the clips broke a few moths ago, and as a consequence I broke the shield because I needed to change my visor.

Arai Evil or Very Mad . For a £300 lid I expected better.

Sucks Evil or Very Mad

(The rest of the lid is pretty good. )

Hmmm, first person I've ever heard complain about an Arai. My old man's got the Walker rep one (dunno the model) and he said it's the best lid he's ever had.

I must admit it would annoy me to have paid £300 for a lid that was a pain in the arse for you to change the visor, that's why I've got a Moto-X one and a set of Scott goggles Wink

The visor change system can be fiddly on Arais. I know how much trouble James has had trying to change his. Both my Dainese and my current Shark quick release systems were much faster and far less fiddly.

However, there does seem to be a nack to the system. I think it's all to do with confidence - it sounds like it's going to break, but it'll be ok... Confused

Pity yours broke eh Wink

I have an astro J and initially found the mechanism 'worrying' feeling it was gonna break. But having had a summer of using an iridium visor and lots of changes I can do it in seconds. As has been mentioned it is a knack Putting the visor back in is very easy once you know the angle. Don't give up!!

My £80 THH lid came down hard in my crash and took a nasty whack, enough to break the chin piece off, rip off the top visor and put a huge crack in the crown piece, still saved my head though so it's a Thumbs Up to THH. So much so I went and bought another one exactly the same Smile

Smile I've had the lid for ages. Admittedly, it has been broken for a good part of that time. Rolling Eyes

I dunno, when it works, its fine. But if you even get it even slightly wrong: "pop"/"crack", "F*** YOU"!!! Evil or Very Mad

I just can't understand why they had to make those parts so cheaply. And it doesn't help when the warranty conveniently doesn't cover "any moving parts".

I phoned up the place I got it from, (when it broke the first time), and they wanted £25 for a new base plate, and another £25 for the shield. Mr. Green Middle Finger All that had broken was the little grey clip, and they wanted me to buy the whole base plate.

So I phoned around and got both parts free at this other place.Wink

The visor change mechanism on my V-Flyer is an absolute nightmare! Full of tiny plastic lugs and bits which look like they're going to ping at any moment. You have to oddly bend the visor to get it in too, at least I do. Shifty The guy in HG made it look sooo easy. Ha ha.

I've just got a dark visor for my Astro-J and had to ask the guy at the stand (got it at the NEC) how to change the visor. Embarassed Had to change visors today whilst riding home (fog closes in quick towards Winchester) and managed the pit stop in about 90s (stop, gloves off, visor out of carrier, change visor, put visor away, bag on, gloves on, zoom off) Cool

They are cheap, about £120 new Laughing if that..

I have the same helmet but a less gay colour scheme Laughing a red/white blue one, I had it first time I got a bike and then bought an OGK, crashed headfirst into a wall with that one so got another OGK which has been ok but recently it's just fallen apart! The visor mechanism is absolutely shite and the right side mechanism has snapped twice, replaced the mechanism off my old helmet first time but have no more this time!! All the vent bits are fallen off too!

Going to get a nice AGV helmet soon for £250 ish, something semi-decent, just bought an AGV MX helmet too, not looked at it properly yet but the quality looks great

Yes they are about £120 now but it's quite old. Was about £200+ when I got it. Which is still a lot for me.
This will be my next one.
