Its a 1983 VF400 I picked up last week. I've given it a good look over today. Main issues are:

- Tail light fine, but brake light doesn't light up. Its a pair of bulbs that should both be dual function stop/tail lights.
- Indicators missing, but the wiring looks to all be there
- Horn doesn't work.

I've noticed that all these functions run off the same fuse. I've replaced the fuse and that hasn't done anything, but the fact that all the broken bits run off a single fuse makes me think they're connected. Would the missing indicators be likely to affect the horn/stop light? Where would I be best looking next?

Not yet. I'm picking up a multimeter this afternoon so should be able to give it a proper look later hopefully.

Just to follow up, it looks like it was the indicator relay. Connected, nothing. Disconnected, nothing. Disconnected and the connecting wires joined, all working (albeit without blinking indicators obviously). No idea how it could have also killed the brake light, but there you go. Horn still doesn't work, but I think that's unrelated.
