Hey guys, my bike was stolen from my parents last night in the M5 part of Salford. I have reported this with the police and are waiting for a call back for a crime reference number. It's a Sinnis Trackstar with a black frame, white tank and brown leather seat.

Jesus they didn't waste time with you did they. Sad Sorry to hear your bikes gone. What's the reg and does it have any identifying marks? Scratches or dents from drops?

Did you have any security at all? Manchester, surprised you had the bike for so long to be honest.

Hope they manage to find it, its probably currently got a few broken bits after being ragged round a field. Keep an eye on gumtree.

The Reg is MX13 KMJ. There's no identifying marks as it was brand new. I'll be keeping my eye out on gumtree etc. I'll post a pic later when I'm back on my laptop. Do you think my insurance will cover it as I was staying over at my parents for the night?

Well it cost the same price to unsure with and without security so I didn't bother saying it had any. However it did have the steering lock and a disc lock on.

That is a damn shame, like stealing a puppy. Mad

If you have the keys to those items you should be ok.

Usually people get raped for saying they have a chain but only use it at home. Their policy usually states "at all times"

Personally, I wouldn't claim for a 125, your insurance will be HUGE having to add that claim for the next 5 years, far more expensive than a used CG.

In Manchester, I'd definitely have had security. Insurance post codes state that your are between E* and F* which says
Quote:
Any motorcycles in areas D, E or F must be garaged in a locked and secured building whilst at the policy holders address.
which would imply your town is full of little failed abortions that thrive on stealing possessions.

I live in the M6 postcode of Salford so I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. But, contrary to the insurance grouping, I've not had any bother for many years now. It was, I admit, a theft hot-spot, but the scrotes don't seem to pay much attention to motorcycles any more.
If I were you, I'd contact the police and the local council for a view of the (almost blanket) video surveilance footage for your area, you might come up lucky.

M5 post code, used to live there myself. Bikes there shouldn't have anything less than 3 almax chains, electric fence and a shark with lasers on it.

Hope you get it back but it's probably been ragged and burnt out somewhere

Just had a call from the police, they recovered the bike from a park near my mums house. It appears they took it couldn't get it started and dumped it. They said that there was fluid found (petrol) on it but I'm waiting for the full damage and forensic report from them. I'll update when I know more.....

EFA, fuckers will ask something like £120 + some additional dollar for their time playing Jenga whilst someone looks into the criminals that they'll never find.

Buy an Almax or Pragmasis chain and chain it to somewhere solid.

What Paddy said and get a cheap alarm. I can send you a link to a £20 one that goes under the seat hooked up the battery and is a doddle to fit. Can even send you pics of where & how I fitted mine if you need them.

Cheapest and easiest to install - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CYCLONE-V2-MOTORBIKE-MOTORCYCLE-ALARM-IMMOBILISER-/200379831192?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2ea7919398

Chains..

https://securityforbikes.com/products.php?cat=Chains+%28without+padlocks%29

You should get one with a padlock, the chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

OR

https://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/ofcmje75/All-Products/c-1-73/

Series 3 with squire lock, pretty proven. Overkill for a 125 and should put all but the most persistent people with angle grinders.

Ah well, qualified good news. I hope it's in decent nick and you don't get stiffed too hard by the recovery goons.

If you've had any contact with your insurers then you might want to get on to them haste and tell them that you were mistaken about it being stolen, you'd just forgotten where you'd left it, so you haven't suffered any loss and nor are you making a claim. Whistle

Was not a Cyclone alarm (same sorta thing though).

https://www.theonlinepartsshop.co.uk/12v-universal-motorbike-compact-alarm-system-non-intrusive-no-cutting-wires/

£17.95. Found an old post of mine when googling it :

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=3470865#3470865

Thats got a few pics of where I put it and what’s in the box. You can just hook it straight the wires straight onto the battery terminals. If you want to be flash you can spend 50pence on a bag of connectors from Wickes so they have proper hook thingys.

Thanks. Des anyone know where I can get a cheap barrel? They have told me its leaking oil and there is barrel damage.... It's not been released yet but they charge £150 for recovering it and then £10 a day it's left there after they have released it.

Hotwire it to get it out of their impound/bring a van or something.

New barrels can be about £10-15 on ebay, not genuine, but then again, its all made in China anyway Wink

Even with oil coming out? Wouldn't I do more damage than good?

Efficiency of police holding you to the £150 charge vs their efficiency in catching the thieves.

100 to 1?
