Well after the attempted theft of my bike last night I need some security. I have a disc lock and the bike has Suzuki's imobolizer thingy bob on it. I'm not looking to spend mega bucks but something that's going to alert me if my bikes touched.

Budget probably £100 max plus fitting.

What are the best options

Can fit it yourself with no wire cutting. just hook it onto the battery. Thumbs Up

Also the Cyclone alarms - similar price to the above, can also be fitted with battery connections only, but also has the option of linking into the ignition system to provide immobiliser functions. Pretty much universally well recommended and can't really go wrong for the price.

So which cyclone alarm is the one that just hooks up to the battery? Or isa alarmed disclock a better alternative?

I spent a grand total of £2.20 on a grinder blade, got a lump of metal off a local scrap man (about 4 foot), bent into shape and dropped it under a slab, packed it in tight (will concrete it in at some point), then put the slab back over the top.

As shown at the back of the bike here:

That's what I'd like to do. But it's parked on a main road. I'd have it in the back yard but it backs onto the railway station car park so even less secure. It's been fine for 8 months and I was lucky the next door neighbour heard my side stand go up and flew out the door and three lads legged off.

No garage (terraced housing street) and it was parked out side the window. Usually have the window open all night and we didn't Monday night.

I park mine on the street - same setup as you. No yard front or back. What worries me is when I go away for a few days or on holiday for a week. Will it be there when I get back.

Can you always park in the space outside your house?

Luckily it can be taken to my Mums and put in the garage if we go away. I can't get parked during the day outside the house, say on a day off. As the knobs park up and go shopping in Town. But at night I can get it under the bedroom window. So just after something to alert me if it's touched.

They'll all work fine with only the battery connections attached. All other functionality is optional. If you want your indicators to flash, you can connect them. If you want remote start/kill, you can connect them. But its all optional. Right now mine (C11) is connected to battery only (although it will be getting indicator connections when I actually have indicators)

These are fine. £30. cheap but not an basic as a siren and tilt switch. Can be used to imobilise as well as alarm and comes with flashing blue led to warn the lowlife it has an alarm.

Will go off when someone knocks or moves the bike but not one of those that goes off when someone farts near it so the next doors cat won't likely do it unless it's a fatty.

Absolute best case if it gets nicked is that you pay £30 for a new lockset and £150 to get it back from a compound.

Cyclone + Almax and some kind of anchor.

Cheaper by a couple of quid to buy it direct than through ebay.

My "anchor" is actually the handle off a calor gas bottle welded onto a piece of square metal plate and bolted into the floor.

Here's a tip for you.

Get a length of really thick chain, or a piece of steel bar bent into a u-shape. Get a plastic pant pot or bucket, Get a bag or tow of ready-mix concrete.

Put the pot "in situ" under your window, put the open ends of the chain or bar in it to a depth of several inches and fill with concrete. Once the concrete has set you have a fairly solid object that will take some effort to move to chain your bike to.

If you want, put some compost in the top of the bucket/pot and plant some bedding plants in it too, then it's an attractive feature...... Thumbs Up
