i've started to ride my aprilia rs125 through the flat spot, the first time i did it, was about 1 week ago however when i pulled up at the traffy lights smoke was coming out the back of the exhaust like crazy it was really worrying, it didnt look cool, what with all people looking,
i took it down the shop and they said it was ok, the reason being because my bike was only reving to 5 k then i was changing gears now i rev to about 11k then change, there doesnt seem to be any more smoke thank god, but after awhile of riding my bike the exhaust seems to i dunno, i guess make a different noise, im not sure why but does anybody know what i mean??? and if they do can they reassure me that the bike is ok and that im not damaging it,

thanks......sorry for long post.

2 strokes are for thrashing, so thrash them you should.

You probably had such a coked up exhaust and now your bike's running properly.

My bike's rarely out of the redline, I would run it harder, but it's not possible.

To be honest it sounds fairly normal. My RS chucks out loads of blue smoke when it's first run, it also holds back a bit. After it's warmed up and revved through the range it stops throwing out the smoke and doesn't pull back.

It's just burning off the excess oil in the cylinder (or that's what it feels like anyway!)

Not too sure about the different sound though!

the heat from the engine makes the metal of the exhaust swell, giving a slightly different note to the 'ring-a-ding-ding' its perfectly fine

The smoke coming out of a 2T on a cold winters morning is really cool, IMO...
