ive been bikeing a few months. my mum bought me a rs 125 for my 17th birthday. it keeps breaking down but my friend is a mechanic so he fixes it for cheap. he gets the bits and i give him the money

the engine stuck i didn't know you had to put oil behind the seat so i got sum from tesco. and my friend unstuck the engine.

i brought a race exhaust for it and the engine keeps sticking now. it is really fast but it stopped where twisting the acselerator and it is funny when you go slow. he unstuck the engine for me 2 times now but it keeps breaking

i am thinking of buying a new engine.

We're a nasty, suspicious lot and no mistake.

However, we'd be assuaged if you could provide us with a picture of your RS and yourself holding something distinctive. We're traditionalists here, so loaves and fishes would be ideal.

Paul stay away from the bike until you know how to do the daily weekly checks on it.
If you don't know that it is unlikely you even know how to ride the bike.

Paul...
You dont know that your engine needs oil
You SURE as fuck don't know enough to start fucking around with ideas of 'tuning' adding sports exhausts!
Meanwhile, Aprillia RS is highly strung, high maintenence two-stroke; that does not take too kindly to being 'stuck' through being starved of oil; nor does it take kindly to poor attempts at tuning, slapping on go faster exhausts without the carburettor jetting corrected to suit; lack there-of usually resulting in a lean mixture, crap running, further engine 'stuck' scenarios, and ultimately melted pistons.
So sorely abused, they need more than a 'top end rebuild' and a cheap replacement piston... though far too many owners optimistically keep returning to this recourse.

You don't need a new engine mate.... you need a new bike; one that is a little more suited to your level of biking experience & know-how and abilities to maintain it.

I would suggest a Yamaha YBR125 as a suitable candidate; and flogging the RS as a non-runner, while it may pall, is going to save you an AWFUL lot of cash and frustration in the long term.... as well as a lot of pushing, even if it doesn't recoup enough to find a YBR or similar!

Second-Class riding, kid, beats first class pushing a heap of junk home yet a fucking gain!

A lesson, me thinks you are in the process of learning the hard way.

Hi Paul
I think what everyone is trying to say is the bike you have is a high maintanance model even more so than standard 2 strokes, the consensus is that you might want to sell the RS on and buy a more user friendly bike for the novice such as YBR,CG or other 4 strokes, you wont find a huge speed difference really but the running costs and reliability will be a great help while you hone your skills as a beginner. As you have said your engine "stuck" (seized) there is a good chance it will be damaged, top end and maybe bearings and pulling this apart to repair may be beyond your skills?, and will continue to line the pockets of your mate if not done correctly i.e money pit.
Although BCF advice can be colourful it is a great place for help and information as well as a nuthouse.
BCF tends to attract all kinds of tools that try to wreek havoc and troll and unfortunatly your fist post is a tad dodgy sounding.
Good luck with whichever choice you make. Very Happy

Hi Paul,

Welcome to BCF! Maybe a YBR/CG 125 would suit you better until you get used to riding. They are bullet proof.. should last you a lot longer than the RS.

(If anyone is nasty to you Paul, try to brush it off and laugh at them! This place takes a little getting used to).
