l,m aware of the EHIC card but it seems not much more than "here,s a band aid off you go nhs uk " l would prefer to have something that will see me ok if the worst happened water tight medical cover reliable an not a rip off for the trip duration in sept that won,t see me facing a huge bill dropping though my letterbox if the unthinkable happened

You need regular travel insurance then.
You can get policies which cover for several trips over a whole year for little more than one specific period.

Take a look at M&S and the post office, both will cover you for riding motorcycles over 125cc so long as you hold the relevant licence to drive it.
I found M&S slightly cheaper. https://bank.marksandspencer.com/insurance/overview/?WT.mc_id=MASM_RET_DDIN01
Other options are:
https://www.holidaysafe.co.uk/travel-insurance/motorcycle-travel-insurance.html
https://www.allianz-assistance.co.uk/
https://www.direct-travel.co.uk/
https://www.hbinsurance.co.uk/
https://www.jsinsurance.co.uk/travel_insurance/annual-travel-insurance.html

And of course ADAC include medical cover in their membership

What about travel insurance that covers bikes and for business abroad?

I did look into this a couple of months ago but nothing but brick walls.

Thats M&S out

Quote:
What is not covered under
Section G – Personal liability

• Pursuit of any trade, business or
profession, or the ownership,
possession or use of mechanically
propelled vehicles
, aircraft or
watercraft.

So, if you own, use or possess a motorised vehicle you are not covered Shocked

Allianz does deem to cover bikes.

WHAT YOU ARE NOT COVERED FOR

Seems I'm going to have to get on the phone but how badly is a £47 gold business travel insurance going to change when i tell them I had stroke nearly 5 weeks ago? If they'll cover me at all.

M&S does cover you for riding any motorcycle so long as you hold the relevant licence. But not for business purposes
