Every time someone asks me about first bikes (125s) I always say get a DT 125 or something similar that you can take off road and have a bit of fun with. That's what I wish I had done instead of buggering about with shitey wee CB100s and 125 Vespas.

Wish I didn't buy the first ped I ever went to see at 16. It did me well for a year but was always breaking down and had to start it by removing seat and blocking airbox with my hand. Although the amount of times I came off I am glad I didn't get a new better condition one as it would have been gutting to see it all scratched up.

I would have skipped all the 50 and 125 mopeds, all the chinese bikes, stuck to just one 125 4T like a varadero and ridden that until I was old enough to take my full license.

BUT, instead I pissed about, and I'm now having to sort out an A2 license after 6 years on 125's...

I'd have started off with more money

bought a vara that hadn't been dropped so that the re-sale value gave me more money towards the commuting bike

Probably have bought an ER-6F instead of the ZZR, not that I don't like the ZZR, the ER-6F feels lighter so easier to manhandle in and out of my back garden and a bit more upright for dealing with dense traffic.

Suzuki GT500

That Suzuki GT500 was this biggest pile of poo I have ever bought and ridden. It put me off Suzukis so much I didn't buy my next one for 30 years. (my Hayabusa).

After many Yammy 2 strokes I bought the GT500 thinking it was a bigger version of them, I couldn't have been more mistaken.

Other than that, I've pretty muuch enjoyed all my bikes in one form or another. I've paid too much for some but who hasn't.

Well being quite a boring person, the ER5 really does suit me well. No regrets there.

But I should have skipped the couple of scooters I had, got a CG or YBR, done DAS a bit sooner and been content with that and saved for something a bit more modern in the long run.

Would have not bought the nsr 125 that i did. purely because it was a state and i didnt really know what i was looking at. did teach me a lot about repairing bikes and walking everywhere tho! was great when it worked

I'd do nothing differently, well maybe I'd go for a bike in spring, the first time I went for the bike was -15°C outside, I was quite over-excited back then.

Now, I'm thinking too much and can not decide what to get even though I've got more than twice as much money as I had when I went for the GPz. + I don't need to buy any gear, so I've got even more money.

I should've held on longer when I passed my test, and not bought the Bandit that I did. It was a bit on the shagged side, and I paid an inordinate amount to keep it running.

Other than that, the only regret was ever working on a Superdream 125. Appalling thing that was.

Passed my test in 86 rode for 2yrs on various bikes from 250/350 LC's and a Suzuki x7 then passed my car test and never went back to biking until 3 weeks ago, biggest regrets is not coming back sooner
