Honda CG125 1999 front and back wheel.

I am new here, just got my bike and trying to get on the road. I got her serviced but the mechanic said a few of the spokes are corroded on the wheels, he told me i should take it on in for mot and see if it passes as a lot of people wouldn't notice. I was wondering is there anywhere i can get a brand new/ really good nick wheels for the bike? I have looked on ebay and all that comes up is not that good. Is there any website that does good wheels for the honda cg125 or should i try scrapyards? Would scrapyards have motorbike parts? Many thanks.

Think lings sell the complete wheel for like £200, not worth it, just clean up the one you got.

Sorry the pictures aren't of better quality, the bike is at my mum's house. The front wheel i don't think looks that bad, the back is quite rusty looking. The previous owner lived right beside the sea and my mate told me that it was probably the sea air that ate the chrome.

If you are up near Ormskirk the bike shop there replaces spokes and straightens wheels so the bloke told me.
if there not broke or loose give them a clean with wire wool and autosol., may just be surface corrosion and they may clean up and look ok, but if in doubt replace them.

Hi there,
I would personally keep looking on e.bay for a good back wheel ; the chrome looks poor on your picture and the spokes fairy poor.

Having said that, with a good rub down with well oiled emmery cloth would make them look a lot better. it would then let you konw whether some of the spkes were beyond use.

I would not pay more than £50 for a near pristine CG wheel ; there are plenty of them around.
also ; have a look at where your nearest auto jumble is ; the CG is the most common bike in the world - you should be able to pick one up soon.

Found this wheel on ebay looks in good condition, but would it fit a 1999 model??

im pretty sure they are all the same size though the all the years of a CG

Type 1 , the early 6 volt version has different wheels and the drums are different. The later ones are all 3 x 17 and 2.75 x 18 , earliers use 3 x 16 rear , 2.75 x 17 front like 70's jap 125's. generally , other than alloy wheel / disc brake models from Brazil type 2 's and chinese clones....stay away from type 1 cg bits .Type one forks are thinner as well , and the petrol tanks are a lovley shape , unlike type 2 and later ones which look like Krytons head from red dwarf, imho.

because of the electrical action between steel and ally , the hubs start powdering . Giving the spokes a good wire brush and cleaning up the hubs will help . Grotty spokes can be subtley sprayed black , and marked / corroded hubs can be sprayed enamel black .
