Lack of MOT

My bike runs out of MOT tomorrow, but i wont have the chance to MOT it until next thursday due to work, and as it is my only vehicle i may be forced to ride it with my MOT untill then. What are the chances of me getting pulled up for this, given that i will be commuting to work on quiet roads and dual carriageways? I believe ANPR scan for expired MOT?

if you dont pass any anpr cameras or nosey police then you may well get away with it, wouldn't guarantee it though.

Lad at work has driven in his non mot'd car for the last 3 months and didn't get caught

Which is lucky, as when he did take it in it failed for 7 reasons and had an additional 7 advisorys

haha i have one booked. I wonder whether i can make a half hour journey last until then...

I know the bike is roadworthy, i dont need an MOT to tell me that, so morally im fine with riding without the MOT, i just dont want to get stopped. Do ANPRs scan every vehicle passing?

I got pulled last month, didn't realise that my MOT ran out just after my tax. I'd paid the tax (which requires a valid MOT), but forgotten about the MOT a few days later.

Got pulled over, charged a £60 fine as it was the law (my own bloody fault).

Why did he pull me over? Going a bit too fast, not no MOT.

Don't ride like a dick and you'll be fine.

Its a risk simple as that.
I'm sure we've all done at one time or another.
Completely forgot about my car last year and couldn't book it in for a few days but no kittens died due to me not having an MOT in that short time.
Unless you get a real target chaser as long as you have it booked then can't see you needing lube.

Thanks, just wanted some reassurance, i dont really have any choice, as i cant afford the MOT without going to work anyway.

My missus went six months without an MOT on her bike. She told me the tax was out of date, when I went to renew it on line it wouldn't let me cause the MOT was expired.

She never got a tug.

Most Anpr is used pointing at the front of a vehicle i.e. oncoming traffic. Your numberplate is on the back so not much to worry about with Anpr

As already said, don't ride like a dick or look suspicious/chavvy and you'll be fine.

I would imagine that if you had an accident then your insurance policy wouldn't be valid. I guess you could also be open to using a vehicle without valid insurance on a public road.

Edit.
After checking it would seem that insurers do indeed have an obligation to pay out regardless of mot status so I retract my statement.

I can't say that I've ever hear of anyone getting tugged or FPN'd purely for not having an in-date MOT.

My brother had an accident once (in a car) and only realised he didn't have an MOT when the insurance company asked for it. All they did was check that the accident wasn't caused by something that would have been picked up in an MOT and it was all fine!

Friend of mine who works for the rozzers said that the ANPRs pick up so many non-taxed vehicles that they switch off the monitors.

Suspect that unless they're cracking down due to austerity and wishing to make a few extra pennies. Or unless they're specifically looking for you, you may have nothing to worry about.
