i'm stuck in two minds to be honest with my little rs 125 tuono

ive had a few little problems with it Bering in mind its a 2004 plate witch has had 9 owns its been very kind to me to be honest ive done about 3k miles on it within the year

but I was riding it home from work and it just seemed like the choke was stuck on or something even though it was all the way up it was raining to be fair and it was just cutting out when I was riding ive never expericaned anything like this

just thinking what should I do about it weather to part ex it against another bike or weather to start swapping parts and maybe do a top end rebuild

ive probably got about 300-400 pound put away to one side maybe its worth repairing

the problems with the bike are

exhaust manifold is blowing 120 pounds to replace

but apart from that im thinking about repairing

what would you do if you was in my situation??

thanks a lot for reading and using your experience

Unless you're a particularly devoted zookeeper working in the big cat enclosure.

to be honest I might have a little inspection in the head and ill get some photos once ive done it and see where I goo from there

I love the rs the speed of them are unbelievable but from what ive read up they say its a money pit so I just don't want to throw stupid money at it like I don't mind doing the odd jobs on it but once it comes to rebuilding think I might have to take it in somewhere im really stuck in two minds aswell save for a newer bike or something

thanks a lot people !!!

Seriously, if you still enjoy the bike then get it repaired. I can almost guarantee you'll be more out of pocket trading it in or selling it (broken) and buying something else.

I've just bought an iridium plug sure it's a br9 !

Still was running rough

On a good day when it was running fine the top speed of it was probably about 86 mph on the spedo I'm just not sure what this could be other people on forums say that they get 100 out of them as far as I'm a where its derestricted it's got the power valve

Witch makes it worst it's ran out of an mot so I can't even try a plug chop

Just thinking the spark plugs have been really black this means it's running rich if my logic is correct. ?

I've checked where the oil pump is and it shows it's spot on

Think my next port of call is looking at the petrol filter and cleaning it out completely and might try new fuel just incase it's water

If you think I've missed anything
Please post

Thanks a lot Everyone for your time posting its helped a lot

Piston looks to have a fair bit of carbon build up....probs over the time you've had it but no problem just looks like its setup on the safe side. Bore from the pics looks good with no wear to the plating.....do however take the power valve blade out and give it a damn good clean and polish.if the piston has that much carbon on it so will the powervalve!they are prone to seizing the powervalve which could snap worst case they dont usually cause piston damage if they do though! A well setup rs125 is capable of outrunning an er500.... Followed a friend of mine for a 30 mile ride..my cbr was indicating between 95 and a little over the ton in places all the way there and back! 60 miles at 12,500-13k rpm..........I was impressed to say the least. Granted he had to rebuild it every 6 months but to be fair that's asking a lot of a little 125.

I think in finally got to the problem ive just took the carb off and cleaned it comply and the filter going into the carb was holding alittle bit of shit so I cleaned it out

and I noticed the choke cable was rusted and it was starting to Frey inside and this is making the choke stick open all the time soo ive just ordered a new cable

lets hope its just a simple little problem like this and it will sort it out Smile

thanks a lot everyone now the nice weather has come I really wana get back riding haha
