PostPosted: 18:06 - 25 Jun 2013    Post subject: Identify my bike Reply with quote

Hello, i have recently brought a spares or repairs derbi senda. I am looking to buy a new gasket set for it but need a little help to identify what bike it is and possibly the year.

However the serial code on the right hand side of the frame top tube has been welded over and can not be seen. So my question is are there any other ways of finding out what bike i actually have?

Thanks in advance.

I have asked but, he brought it with no graphics on it or any of its previous on road parts so it is pretty hard to recognise what bike it is.

So because it had no on road parts or no graphics it means it is automatically stolen. Or maybe it was because someone turned it into a off road bike.

Why would you turn it into an off road one.

It is a crosser with buggered frame numbers. Chances are it has been robbed many times, especially with no paper evidence.

It probably has been robbed many times but either way the police released it back into my mates possession i then brought it. So it still doesn't change the fact that i need to identify the bike.

Photos would help.

Still, the logbook would also help.

if its was genuine sale after a theft that had been recovered you should have the v5, the v5 shows both engine and VIN - so i really dont now why you wqould be asking if you are not the theif in the first place

What happens when a bike is stolen the theif trys to make it unrecognisable to the owner this includes getting rid of frame numbers, spraying the graphics chucking the number plate and on road parts. So how would i be in possession of the v5 when it has been stolen before?

If it was bought with no V5 previously, it was more than likely stolen.

If your friend has no V5, he is a fool.

it was your mate who got it back - he will still have the original v5 which will have the details, these detial are what you need, and that i am sure can be put back onto the bike.

so whats the full story?

Right basically my mate had a crm50 which he blew up, so he swapped it for a derbi senda which had no v5 and the serial code was welded over and had been sprayed blue from red. So it had clearly been stolen before. Later on my kx80 and his derbi senda got stolen from his shed. Eventually the police found his derbi and returned it to him. He then blew it up and sold it to me. I am now trying to find out what year and what model the bike is so i can fix it.

Post a picture, it's not hard to identify what model your bike would be.
