Got my renewal through, Am I right that if I do nothing then it won't auto renew and take the cash from my bank like most other insurers would? I'm not paying £1 odd a minuet for a simple answer on their phone lines and its a total ball ace trying to get an email from them that's nor just a pre written response from their drop down menus. I'm just being cautious as this is the first time it seems like a company isn't auto renewing.

iooi: I don't want to do that and risk loosing a years ncb on the technicality of something stupid like one day.
Scorps: From what I can make out that's seems to be what happens but the wording isn't very clear for a simpleton like me
Aaron: Good find i'll give them a phone tomorrow during the day when they should be open.

Here's how my renewal with them went.

Arrow Hi, your policy is about to expire, you can renew online.
Arrow We notice you haven't renewed online, you can call this high rate number to renew.
Arrow OK, here's an 0800 number. Or click here and we can call you back.
Arrow [Ring ring] Hello this is Bob from eBike customer retention...

As I understood it, the policy would not have auto renewed. However, there is an option to explicitly select this online, and I did so.

As it turned out, I couldn't find a cheaper policy that suited me elsewhere, and their "new quote" price was identical to the renewal price, so I just went with them again anyway as a new policy.

Mine did not auto-renew at start of June. Had to action the renewal online (I did receive advance warning).

As Rogerborg found, I did a comparison site which returned 40 quotes, none were cheaper. That's a first!

Renewed with eBike.

Yeh I've had the barrage of emails from them telling me to log in and renew, sat for a few days doing all the usual checking every insurer I could find, finally got it for £242 with MCE which was £200 less than my renewal and £600 better than last years cheapest. Happy days Very Happy however having a quick look through the MCE policy it says I've ticked the modifications box but I can't actually see them listed. I'll wait till I get the paper documents through before I double check with them as there will no doubt be admin fees involved and they will try to pump up the cost if they have missed out the mods surely

I'm with ebike.... They were the cheapest for me. Probably down to the fact that they were the only company that would give me a quote Shocked

My last dealing with them was them suddenly putting my renewal price up 500%.

It depends on the broker/insurer policy.
I just 'newed' my car Ins. with Liverpool Victoria as Swiftcover were too dear. Swift had me down to autro renew. I emeailed them to say do not auto renew. The fuckers emailed me back to tell me I had to do this via my swift cover page. Cnuts couldn't just do it when asked.

I was also informed that I had opted for auto-renew when I took out the policy. I don't factually remember doing this but when I read the T&C right on the last page there is reference to auto-renewal where swift will take the cost if I do not request that the don't. Apparently this is how some of them do it. It is fucking sneaky. You agree invisibly as you tick accept Terms and conditions to buy the policy all those months before.

Liv Vic have an auto renew panel in big legible print to explain how their policy works. You can elect to NOT auto renew when you buy a new policy. Much more civilised.
