I bought a YBR just over a month ago and sold it on two weeks after. When buying it for myself, I filled in the logbook and was given the new owners slip. The guy said he would send off the logbook asap.

When it came to selling it, I didn't have the logbook, just the new owners slip which I gave to the buyer. The new log book has come back to me in my name, can the girl who bought it still apply for one with the old green slip? I can't seem to contact her, don't have her address, but messaged her on Facebook and rang her but no reply...

So you sold a bike, without taking down her name or address to send the V5 on?

You sir, are an idiot. So's the buyer for not replying. Remember the V5 just shows who is responsible for taxing the vehicle, not who owns it.

If she's got any common sense she'll apply for the logbook when she next needs to tax it, since you'll now get any reminders.

I'd continue to try and get hold of her, if she gets caught riding with no tax or whatever the DVLA will try and pin it on you I suspect.

I have her name and postcode, but the street she lives on is pretty damn long, hundreds of houses! I've checked the phone book and various online directories but can't seem to find which house it is.

Why not get her house number so you can forward the V5 on?

Just have to keep trying to get in contact IMO. Or let the DVLA know....just hope you can prove you've sold it.

Make up a house number, fill in the V5, send it to DVLA, sorted.

That. You need to send it off ASAP. Tell her that she can either reply with her address, or the V5C is going to someone in her street and she can go and knock on doors.

Up to now we've been recommending that you get free proof of posting, although you don't even need that. However, I'd suggest that you send it recorded delivery because of reasons.

Alternatively, wait a couple of weeks, ask the DVLA where your acknowledgement letter is, then when they say they haven't received a change of keeper and ask for the new keeper details tell them that they're on the bleedin' V5C that you were bleedin' required to bleedin' send them, ain'tchya?

Leaning towards this idea. How long do they usually take to come through? About 8 weeks?
