sv650 water issues

Hi All,

My SV has lost some water over the last 4 weeks , around a glass of water. This was confirmed after checking the level through the bottle.

Could it be that it has overheated and burned off, if anti freeze mixture is not 50 50?
if not what else can it be ?

Also would you top up the container which in my case, I have to remove the seat and then remove tank screws, lift it up and then access it or simply open the radiator cap and do it through there?

Does that makes any difference?

In addition , I have an antifreez from around 4 years ago which the lid was closed and sat in my parking . can I reuse that ?

In fact I have two 4 litter bottle different brands and each have around 1 liter in them .


Is it bad to reuse them both ? I know it is advised to change the water( drain , refill) every 2 years but think that is maybe because the anti freeze is used and absorbs stuff in the engine where as mine is almost new

Top it up by the expansion tank.

Unless the engine has overheated and boiled off some of the coolant then you'll need to check the system for leaks.

Do you think it is ok to use my old anti freeze which has been in parking for little over 5 years?
