Great! I've finally got my first bike (not including ped). It a '90 DT 125R Cool

Soooo happy Mr. Green

It's still in pieces, but all the pieces I have are great. Let me explain...

Its an unfinished project. I bought off Ebay.

The parts I have include:

Arrow Supermoto wheels: Hagon (custom made) + new hubs
Arrow Dunlop gp207s all round
Arrow Renthal bars
Arrow Completely new piston and bored out barrel (ready for me to abuse hehehe) Twisted Evil
Arrow Full Dep system
Arrow Black powder coated frame
Arrow I think it has a new shock/spring

I have the panels and I'm going to spray them black (black frame black bike). Cool

So after I put it all together it should be great fun..

and for you guys, here are some pics:

It's an older model DT, de-restrict, sort out valves and jets and it will shock you for a 125. Very good first bike, both on and off the road.

Are they standard DT wheels with road tyres on? Or are they off another bike?

Standard rims are skinny as anything (meant for off road tyres), and therefore look silly with road tyres on.

That looks lovely, where do you live, what hours are you out of the house and what kind of security is on the bike?

Very nice project mate! You have started with a good basis for an SM bike as you already have the most expensive parts sorted out the wheels & suspension. It shouldnt take loads of money to make that into a cracking little supermoto! My KMX is going to go the same way eventually, but its going to be around £400-450 for the wheels to be built onto original hubs, and the suspension needs sorting out, taller shock and re-build the forks. Im hoping to spend most of the cash on the motor and cosmetics though, as i want about 38-40bhp to put a smile on my face, or else i might still consider an engine transplant, if i can find something that fits reasonably easily, would prefer a 2stroke, but maybe a lightweight 4stroke twin would also be worth considering?

you got an awful lot of work to do mate but once its done, I think that will look awsome. I like the super fat rims too Thumbs Up

The good thing about the DT is you can get universal parts for them!

Ermm, a bit late now, but a couple of thoughts...
The rear wheel looks a bit wide for the power you got (though not sure how wide it is, so it may just be the way it looks in the pics). A wider wheel will slow down the turning in speed to some degree.

Also, even the narrowist GP207's are designed for 50hp+ really. This means you may not get the best from them because they don't heat up enough. For your next set of tyres, if you can get them in the right sizes, I'd try the 39ss, or maybe a gpr70 which does slightly bigger sizes the 090 is also a possibility.

think they were just off the r6 his son had rift could actaully get allot wider tyre on it thats only a 140 on a 4.5" rim but as you say with the little power its not going to warm, but it wont realy need to lol if it was warm there would be even less chance of being able to get the back end out Laughing

Got my bt45's for mine now yay just need to fit em Rolling Eyes will be back in definatly after xmas Rift everythigns a bit up in the air atm mate but i will pop over and have a gander soon mate Thumbs Up
