Hi ,

I am trying to choose my next bike few month in advance while saving for it.

I really like to get R6 but also like GSXR.
I don't know different bike models that well. I know Honda CBR which R may stand for racing as it is fully faired.

if you were me and wanted to chose the next bike, which super sport or racer bike would you go far in budget of around 3 to 5k which has a good handling and speed.

I currently ride fazer 600 and also have a 125 bike

many thanks

Take off the mirrors and tape up the headlight up. Then do some trackdays to see if you like it.
Later on, and if you make it into the advanced group I'd suggest buying a ________ and tyre warmers to go with it.

They're all as good as each other, buy the one you like the look of.

GSX-R
CBR-RR
YZF-R
Daytona

Just pick the one you think looks the best

How if I don't own it ?

to be honest, my heart is with R6 but heard that GSXR does better at speed but don't know how true that is

3-5 k but can push to 6k. I like something that is good looking. for instance, I like the new Yamaha from 2005 onward I think . old one looks ok but prefer the new shape thus why increased my budget

If you're looking at the top end of that range you're looking at 07-10 600s. As it heppens I rode everything 07-08 except the Gixxer before I bought my Daytona, so ill sum them up for you:

CBR600:
Small, well put together, very civilised ride, boring but friendly power delivery. No noticeable top end rush.

R6:
Phenomenal engine when you're on it, gutless when you're not. Wonderful handling but too focused to use every day. Ideal just for a track bike or second bike.

Kwak:
Engine between the R6 and CBR. Doesn't feel as well put together. Nice enough but didn't make my bollocks tingle.

Daytona:
Engine is a peach, can plod or be revved, feels like a CBR on steroids. Great front end, rear shock isn't as good. Handles superbly, feels really light and narrow. Riding position is an acquired taste. Definitely test ride one.

Both are more than capable at speed, the real question is are you, as either of the bikes will be up to flying around at insane speeds with ease if the rider knows what they're doing.

Have you ridden on track before?

I'd personally buy something cheap like a beat up zx6r and use that for a track bike. At least then it means if I crash it then I wouldn't be throwing £6000 down the shitter.

08 Ducati 848... advertised at a little over £6k on autotrader, but haggle them down and you should be able to get it for 6.

All the current crop of 600's are fantastic bikes, unless you are a very capable rider/racer you won't be able to work out the best based on performance as they are very closely matched.

Saying that they all feel different to ride and deliver power in diferent ways so I'm sure if you were to test ride them all you'd find a preference.

May preference would be the Kawasaki though I'm biased as a "kawa man" close second would be the 675.

Thumbs Up

If you're planning on going racing I'd expect you to know this. It's the ZX6R.

I'm surprised this thread is still 'normal'. Smile

Random13. Have you been on track yet? ...So you've not been on track yet. So do a trackday on your bike and if you're addicted to them then you'll have a better idea of what bike you want.

I think OP is just another weekend warrior, and by "racing bike" he means a sports bike. And is yet just another rossi wannabe with no idea

What's the Daytona like in terms of reliability compared to the others? My next bike is going to be a 600 and I'd love a Daytona, but they don't seem to be as reliable as the big Jap four.

I'm getting the distinct feeling that any of the bikes you choose are going to be wasted on you.

The servo on the Exup valve WILL break but its completely unimportant. There was a recall for the reg/rec, free at a dealer, check its had that done. Apart from that, fine. Build quality is ahead of the Suzuki and on a par with the Kwak, maybe better. It does have its quirks like the coolant in the header tank actually needs to be on or below minimum but servicing is easy. Early 06 ones had oil frothing issues but that was rectified. Water pumps on the 06-08 ones can gradually lunch themselves.

In general, well put together and easy to work on.
