The worst part of this is this bloke already has a false left leg due to a drunk driver in the past, luckily it was just a broken right ankle this time.

Jumping a red light, no excuse, the car driver should have got in serious trouble for that. Glad the biker is okay though (eventually!)

I hate these situations, you can be the best rider in the world, but when it comes to a idiot who takes red light as a dark green one, you're done anyway. Thumbs Down

That's a prime example of absolutely piss poor observations if you ask me Laughing you can see that car coming in a mile away. Glad the fella is ok but c'mon that could have been so easily avoided.

EDIT - Ok maybe a bit harsh, you can see the car emerge from behind the truck at 12 seconds and then impact at 15 seconds. Not an awful lot of time to react and maybe the camera catches a different view to what he actually saw.

Cam is mounted to the right side of his helmet. Vehicle comes into view sooner on video than his own FOV.

What a dick of a driver though.

I watched another video of his and his other leg was crushed after a drink driver crashed into him, so it got removed. I guess he is used to the pain and was probably in shock thinking "great now I'll have to buy a trike if this other leg is knackered as well" Laughing

This, although he clearly has the right of way you could see the car coming from a mile away.

Imho he did react, studying the video it looks like he expects the car to stop at the intersection, and by the time it's clear the car isn't going to stop (at around 15secs), the rider, knowing that he wouldn't be able to stop the bike in time to avoid a collision tries to gun it and swerve left to cross the car's path before it reaches him.

Was it the right call? The only alternative I could see would be slamming on and maybe hitting the side of the car, or possibly ending up in front of it still anyway?

To be honest, whatever call he could have made still likely would have ended up in a crash, and with people telling him he should have done it differently. =P

Before people actually have a 'moment' where they see a car coming towards towards them at speed and full well knowing it is going to hit them, they will never know the instant shock that kicks in.. almost impossible to react.
