Just managed to snap my left rear indicator off when I fixed my Oxford panniers on my bike. The cables snapped and the bulb blew out. I'm off on a two day trip tomorrow and setting off at about 7am so there will be no shops open to get a new set of indicators.

Afaik it's illegal to drive a car with fault indicators, but is it the same with bikes? Surely I can just indicate with my arm?

You divvy!!! Laughing

I told you them flashers were pants, but all you did was take the piss out of mine for being too vast. Now look - your diddy little spindly things have snapped off because you looked at 'em the wrong way lol.

Bodge the indicator back together until you can replace it.

A metal/plastic/wooden spline and gaffer tape should hold it structurally. Wires can be fixed with a soldering iron plus spare wire or by twisting the wires together if you really need to. Then add a new bulb. You or your friends must be able to find one spare bulb between you?

Then once the shops open. Replace the indy/indies.

Hand signals are fine.

Techincally it's an offence to have broken flashers but I've been riding my bike for years with no indicators fitted at all and nobody has ever pulled me up on it. I fit them once a year for the MOT.

Even if someone took exception to it. Worst case you'd get a rectification notice.

Don't worry about it.

If you are anywhere near London, I should have a spare universal indi, or at least a spare 23 watt bulb. Usually near Uxbridge area around 7am. Thumbs Up

If not, every Halfords I have been in have universal indis. Your bound to pass 1 on your travels.

+1 for halfords, and they use normal bulbs not LED's.

Just need to crimp the ends or solder.

Saved me a few times when I need one quick.
£15 a pair I think.
