Went to take the dogs for a walk last Wednesday, and thought "that's odd, something's missing." Both my Honda & the Suzuki were missing off the front drive Crying or Very sad

To give them their due, the cops arrived within half an hour. They'd already checked CCTV footage for the last 24 hours, and hadn't seen either bike.

My neighbor found my Honda a bit further down the road by some lockups. The ignition had been smashed, and the wires cut. Fortunately, they'd blown the fuse, so they couldn't start it Very Happy . Of the Suzuki there was just a single mirror left Crying or Very sad

Really pissed off, as I'd spent 8 months re-building that Suzuki from this:

to this:

What made it worse, was that the missus had just passed her CBT on the Saturday, and had only ridden the bike 1 day Evil or Very Mad

Anyhow, managed to fix a temporary switch to the Honda until my new ignition turned up. And, found a lovely Suzuki GN125H for the missus. I'm hoping I'll get most of the cost back from the insurance, but to be honest, I couldn't leave the missus without a bike for however long it'll take them to pay out as she'll have forgotten everything she learned on her CBT.

A friend of a friend said he'd seen the bike on a local parkland the other night, and asked if he wanted me to get the parkies to try and catch the twats. I declined, as it'd probably be more hassle than it's worth with the insurance. It's going to be enough of an argument to get a decent valuation for it anyway.

No 125 is worth claiming for, you'll get raped hard. I wouldn't even claim for the R1 as it makes it impossible to insure a Bandit 600 afterwards unless you are happy paying £1200 for insurance Laughing

I note a garage in the 1st photo... any reason you don't hide them/chain them?

That sucks. Don't give up hope though. I've had two bikes stolen in the last year (my RXS and Jianshe). The Jianshe was recovered within 15 minutes down the cul-de-sac behind my house where the little scrotes were failing to hot wire it and a resident called it in. The RXS I put on facebook, had 800 shares in about 24 hours and one of the phone calls I got from that was someone telling me it was parked up in their estate! Looks like they stopped riding for some kip and I went to took the bike back from them Laughing

I'm with Paddy on the claiming issue. It's usually not worth it unless you REALLY can't afford to replace the bike, as insurance will be prohibitively expensive next renewal for any of your vehicles.

Neither of them are worth more than £1k. But I am going through the insurers for the 125 as I have receipts for around £700 of new parts.

I did wonder on the effect on my insurance, but when I took a new policy out for the replacement 125 I was quoted a whole £57 TPFT Very Happy So ,it doesn't seem to have had any effect, maybe because they haven't paid out yet Confused

Nice if it is only a tiny increase for yourself and you get to recoup some cash. Thumbs Up

Is that declaring the claim and with a value of what you think you'll get paid?

I declared the claim, but didn't put a value in, it was optional for only if you knew the value. It might well go up if/once the claim is settled.

Seen my thread on getting a cheaper quote without security? I just don't know any more, there's no assumption that it's safe to make about insurance. Brick Wall

Anyway, I hope it works out for you and the scrotes break their backs and die slowly in a fire.
